Chapter 13

I was finally able to return to school and Cora almost pushed me down when she hugged me.
     "Brooklyn you missed a lot and also someone took a piece of the meteorite," she said. Just then Sandra walked up to me and led me to the lab. The rock sat there on the table vibrating.
    "Why is it doing that?" I asked.
  "We need someone to harness its powers and you're the only person strong enough," she said. I stared at the meteorite before placing my hands on it and I felt a surge of energy go through me and I closed my eyes. It increased but I had to go on. Then everything stopped and when I opened my eyes, the meteorite had disappeared. Sandra was staring at me in shock and I returned to my dorm heading straight to my room. I stared at myself in the mirror and I was shocked. My hair was a dark red color with black highlights and then my eyes were no longer blue, it was a light shade of red and then on my arm was a fire tattoo. Great! Now my powers gave me a tattoo. I closed my eyes and when I opened them, they were back to normal.

Jason's POV
I stared at the piece of vibrating rock on the table. Mom stood beside it and then the vibration stopped and mom gasped.
    "What's wrong?" I asked. She kept on breathing heavily before facing me.
     "They've put the meteorite in her and now she's coming to kill you," mom told me. I couldn't believe that, could I? I stared at mom.
    "I'm telling you the truth son," she said placing her hand on my cheek and I nodded believing every single thing she said. I held the rock which was glowing dimly. I closed my eyes, absorbing its powers before everything went dark.

I looked out my window as soon as the ground shook. The once blue skies were being overcome by darkness. I rushed out.
      "What's going on?" I asked Sandra as soon as I spotted her.
   "Jason's turned evil. This is what we were all trying to prevent," she said.
      "What are you saying?" I asked.
     "The end of the world," she said before running off, probably to inform all the superheroes of the current situation. I went to the training room and everyone...the strong students were there in their supersuits.
     "Why aren't you ready?" Cora asked me. I stared at her aqua coloured hair and deep blue eyes before facing Alexandra who was wearing all black.
       " I don't have an official supersuit," I said. Cora rolled her eyes at me before leading me out obviously to lecture me on being prepared. Alexandra followed behind rolling her eyes at every word Cora said. We finally reached my room.
       "Imagine yourself being consumed by your powers," she said. I closed my eyes and then I saw a light shade of red before it changes to blue then the dark red, then the colours mixed together and entrees the meteorite and I felt a surge of energy within me. I opened my eyes, a gasp left my mouth as I stared at my reflection. My hair was a dark shade of red like before with the black highlights,the fire tattoo on my arm was kinda glowing, my super suit was a scaly jumpsuit which was a slight shade of reddish orange and mainly dark red. My nails were black and my lips were dark red. My eyes were light red too.

     "This is the best superheroes suit ever. You have to be on the cover of super vogue magazine," Alexandra said to me,her eyes sparkling. I braided my hair leaving some hair to cascade down my shoulders. I walked out with the girls and on the security cameras, we saw Jason. My heart fell, he had been consumed and beside him was a woman that had red hair like my mom except her hair was shoulder length and she had brown eyes. I ignored everyone's protests, heading outside.
             "Jason you need to stop this," I shouted. He shook his head raising his hands letting fire explode from it and then he fired at me. I put my hands in front of me forming a shield using blue fire. I pushed forward but he was too strong and I fell back down as the fire hit me. I groaned in pain. Jason stared at me an evil grin on his face as he burnt everywhere .
     "You people will perish and no one can stop me," he said, his voice was deeper than normal.
         "Jason! I don't want to hurt........"
      "This makes it easier," he said cutting me off before blasting me again.
          "Leave my BFF alone," I heard Cora shout and then water was thrown at Jason. He easily blocked it before shooting at her again and she fell back. Alexandra went forward.
      "JJ! Don't hurt anyone please. This isn't you," she said.
     "You know nothing about me," he said and then I saw the fire in his eyes grow and I knew that if she got hit,she would die. I ran in front of her,pushing her down and the fire hit me. I fell down, all the voices seemed so far away as darkness consumed me. I had failed to protect them.
