"And you get a head, a head full of dreams. You can see the changes you want to, be what you want to be." ~Coldplay
ERIS
I had many questions, but Morpheus, or Dream as he preferred to be called, needed to find his tools at full strength. The world needed him to be strong, and I knew he would need my help. Currently, I was standing on a deck surrounded by dark waters, they seemed unruly and dangerous though Dream was unfazed. He told us that he needed to summon the Three Fates for their expertise, Lucienne told him that it wasn't a brilliant idea, but Dream made up his mind.
I watched him stick his hand into the water only to be roughly pulled into it, stunning me as I sped walk to the place he once was. The water rippled where he fell in, his body faded from view, and all I saw was my own reflection in the dark waters.
"Will he be okay?" I asked, looking over at an worried Lucienne, who was trying to reassure me, but she wasn't convincing from what I was sensing.
"He is Endless...immortal. He will be fine." Lucienne answered though I felt unconvinced until I felt a water hand catching my wrist. Looking down, I saw Dream, and I helped pull him from the water; he instantly dried once he stood holding an egg in his grip. "Sir...are you okay?"
"Fine, Lucienne...I have what I need to speak with the Fates...I shall return with answers." he answered, nodding at me to let go of his arm as I watched him walk towards the dark night.
"Told you he would be fine. Come Eris...we shall wait for him in the throne room." Lucienne ordered, walking forward as I followed suit; we made it back to his throne room just as he emerged from a vacant doorway, still holding the egg in his grasp. "My Lord, you didn't give it to The Fates."
"Because it was not meant for them." Dream answered I watched the egg vanish into smoke from his hands, and he adjusted his coat. His eyes locked onto me as he approached slowly like a hunter stalking his prey. "Now...it is time for you and me to speak, Eris."
DREAM
The young girl in red clutched her arms close to her chest as I approached her though she didn't cower away as most did at my presence while I studied her.
"How are you able to do what you do?" I asked, watching her lift one hand with a red aura-like substance danced around her palms.
"Your guess is as good as mine. I just woke up one day, and I could do these things. It terrified me to the point I nearly burned down the place I was living in." she exclaimed I narrowed my eyes to her; how did she not know how she got these abilities?
"What about your family? They must have an explanation." I wondered, watching her shrug her shoulders at me.
"I don't have one...at least I don't think I do. I don't remember anything about my past. I just woke up, and I had no idea who I was." she replied I began to walk around her with my hands braced behind my back. Lucienne shared a similar look to me that she didn't understand either.
"Except your name? Eris?" I pointed out, watching her whip her auburn locks around to look at me as I stood behind her.
"My friend Emily gave me that name. She found me after I burned the place I lived in and said I was the embodiment of chaos," she answered I narrowed my eyes by the name, looking to Lucienne again.
"Eris as Eris, the Greek Goddess of Strife and Discord. Fitting." Lucienne exclaimed I watched Eris turn her head as she was confused by the explanation before looking back to me.
"So you remember nothing of who or what you are?" I asked, watching her nod yes to me while I locked my jaw for a moment. This girl didn't remember anything as I tried to figure out something else; this strange feeling I got when I was around her. "Then how did you find me?"
"I don't know that either...since the moment I woke up, I felt a strange pull hitting me and wouldn't leave no matter what I did. It wasn't when I meditated and sent out my ghost self to the world that it led me to you," she explained I felt my eye twitch before Eris ran her fingers through her long hair.
"Why did you save me then?" I asked, stepping close to her and closing the vast gap that was between the both of us.
"When I saw you, I just felt compelled to help you. Like there was a voice inside me telling me to free you. So I used my abilities to manipulate the guard to free you and to shield you from the bullets because I didn't know if he could kill you with them." she started taking a confident step toward me until we stood a few inches from one another. Her blue eyes flickered slightly red, then returned to the mundane color. "And since I did, maybe you can help me."
"Help you with?" I asked, watching her take another step leaving only the fabric of our shirts and stopping our skin from touching.
"Well, you are Morpheus, the Lord of The Dreaming and King of Dreams...you know everything about everyone, right?" she answered I nodded, gripping my hands behind me tightly.
"That I am and that I do," I whispered, watching her take a step back from me, and I relaxed my grip for the moment.
"Well, since I saved you from the sphere, maybe you can help me remember who I am. That sounds like a fair trade." she offered as I looked to Lucienne and then back to her, I nodded that it was only fair because she saved my life from Burgress.
"Agreed...I will help you, but I need to find my tools. Once I do, I will be able to achieve your dreams and help you remember." I answered, brushing past her with Lucienne still standing where she was stepping in front of me.
"May I ask where you're off to, sir?" she asked I replayed the words that The Fates told me about the location of my first tool.
"London," I answered her, gathering my strength so I could transport myself to the exact place where my sand once was seen. Then where my Helm was transported and where my ruby was stored. "The sand was sold there...when I have it back, I will seek out my Helm in Hell, then I will find my ruby."
"Then will you grant me one favor before you go, sir? Take a raven with you. Let me monitor you here, especially if you face off with that sorceress and the Ruler of Hell." Lucienne begged I scoffed at the idea before remembering the loss of my Jessamy, and the pain replaced the annoyance in my heart.
"No more ravens. I am Dream of The Endless, and I need no watcher." I reminded her, but she was persistent, so I eventually agreed to the raven. Then I prepared to travel when I felt an arm slink into mine as I turned to see it was Eris next to me. "What do you think you are doing?"
"Coming with you," she answered I looked at her thoughtfully, hoping to get her to back off, but she didn't remove her arm from mine. She scoffed, rolling her eyes and tightening her grip on my arm. "Look...I get it that you are Dream of the Endless, but you said you are going up with a sorceress and the ruler of Hell while weakened. You may need me for backup. Besides...I can handle myself against anything that comes for us."
"She is right, sir...." Lucienne added I looked angrily to Lucienne then back to Eris, who wasn't budging her arm from mine as I exhaled sharply.
"Fine...let us go," I answered, throwing up my sand, allowing the both of us to be consumed in the tornado and disappear from The Dreaming.
~~We are off to find Dreams Tools, wonder where these tools are? Can Eris remember who and what she is? Can Dream help her? I guess we are off to London to find out.~~
