"I've been going through the motions, watching things pass me by. Sleepwalking through my life. But you came along and shook my world up. No longer scared to try, my eyes are open wide. And I never felt like this before, I know I'm finally awake, finally awake." ~Hoobastank
DREAM
Eris and I were now standing on the beach, mannequins, as I was teaching Eris how I created dreams and nightmares. Now that the world was safe, the vortex was eliminated, and I was free from my imprisonment, it was time for me to get back to work.
"So all you do is think of a dream or nightmare that is needed in a moment the world needs it?" she asked, watching me as I formed the new dream.
"Correct...I watch and see what the world needs, and then I create what needs to be seen." I answered, watching her nod as she sat on the rock next to me, I watched her redder hair flicker in the wind, and her smile formed on her lips.
"My lord...my lady. I am sorry to disturb you while you're both working, but...." Lucienne's voice began behind me as I turned to see her clutching a book in her hands.
"Is something wrong?" I asked, watching her shake her head no to me as I tilted my head to her allowing her to speak.
"No, it's something lovely. Two new books appeared in the library this morning; one was written by Rose Walker." she began I felt a slight smile curl from my lips, hearing Rose's name again.
"And how is it?" I asked, gripping my hands and watching Lucienne smile with joy.
"You may take issue with the depiction of the king in the story, though the queen has shown to be a compassionate young woman and...I loved it." Lucienne smiled, cradling the first book into her arms as I saw Eris smile, hearing Rose write her into her book.
"She is a daughter of the Endless with quite a story to tell," I answered, watching her nod before I saw her move the book to the other she had in her hands. "And what is that?"
"This... is another book that appeared in the library. It belongs to Eris...she finally has her book." Lucienne smiled, holding the book out for Eris as she took it from her. I saw the red binding with an image of a woman surrounded by a red aura on the cover.
"Thank you, Lucienne...." Eris exclaimed, flipping through the pages while she nodded and looked back at me.
"So are you making new Nightmares to replace Gault and the Corinthian?" Lucienne asked, pointing at the mannequins standing behind me as I looked at them and then back to her.
"The world does not need a new Corinthian quite yet...in fact. Will you keep this somewhere safe for us? I am finishing a Dream." I answered, handing Lucienne the remains of the Corinthian her, and she took it. It would be best to keep it far away from me until either Eris or I was ready to create it.
"I'll leave you both to it then," Lucienne whispered, turning and heading back to the library.
"Lucienne...do you not wish to say hello?" I asked, watching her turn as I finished the dream, and Gault appeared with a set of two wings from their back, seeing her gasp.
"You look gorgeous, Gault." Lucienne complimented I moved towards Eris, who closed the book and stood up to look at herself.
"May I ask what made you change your mind about me, sir?" Gault asked I removed my hand from the other and braced it around Eris' waist.
"I had no right returning here after a century expecting everything to be just as I left it. Lucienne tried to tell me that...so did you...so did Eris. I did not listen then, but now I am listening," I explained, tightening my grip on Eris' waist, who smiled at me, then gave me a knowing look as I chuckled. My face turned to them again with a small smile. "Or trying to."
"Baby steps..." Eris smiled I nodded, watching Gault fluttering their new wings with a smile on their face.
"New Dreams...new nightmares. New Queen...a new age." I answered, watching Lucienne nod, and Gault was happy to hear it.
"Thank you, sir," Gault replied I nodded, watching them flap the wings as they hovered from the floor and took flight into the sky.
"We might be here awhile...Lucienne, would you mind taking care of things while we work?" I asked, watching her nod obey, turn, and walk back to my castle while Eris watched Gault fly in the sky. My hands slinked behind her, and my chin brushed to her shoulder. "Thank you..."
"For what?" she questioned, touching both of my hands that held her waist while I pressed a soft kiss to her temple.
"For saving me...for loving me...for everything," I replied, watching a smile form on her own lips and tighten her hands onto mine.
"And thank you for creating me," she answered, turning to face me as her lips pressed onto mine. Everything has finally become perfect; for the first time in eons, I never felt more alive. With Eris' creation, everything had changed for the better, and The Dreaming was now thriving. She broke the kiss even though I didn't want it to. "We have work to do...you still have to show me how to create nightmares."
"You are right...shall we get back to work?" I asked, watching her nod as she moved to watch me at my work again. The smile I was wearing would not leave my face because she made me so happy. Then I remembered what my sister said to me a few weeks ago.
What if Eris was here to save me? My sister was right...she was always right, Eris was here to save me like an angel from the heavens. She was everything I ever wanted and always needed, and now she was here. My Queen of Dreams and Nightmares, She was my dream, The Sandman's dream.
~~And that is the end of Sandman's Dream...will there be a second one? I do not know, it all depends if I can work it with Season 2 and thankfully we are getting a season 2. So thank you for all who enjoy it and until then we shall see what the future holds.~~
