My heart fluttered as Eddie pulled away from me, the kiss was a small and sweet but that didn't stop the butterflies in my stomach. I quickly rush up the stairs and away from the whispering witnesses, heading straight to my class.

The next few hours dragged by but eventually the final bell rang and I was able to escape this boring school. The second I stepped outside my eyes were scanning the carpark for Eddie. Before I could spot the long haired boy, an arm is slung over my shoulders.
"You alright short stack?" Steve asks from above me.
I smile up at the brown haired boy. "I'm alright Stevie just trying to spot my ride home"
He grins back at me. "I'll give you a lift, plus I've got gossip that I didn't have time to tell you at lunch before you rushed off. Want a coffee?"
I think for a moment and nod my head realising  I haven't spent much time with Steve since my first smoke with Eddie.
" You had me at coffee"
The boy laughs as he directs me towards his BMW. "I knew you couldn't deny a caffeine fix."
We climb into his deep brown car, I quickly lean over to switch on the radio. I glance up as Steve puts his car into gear and feel my heart twinge as I see Eddie's emotionless face staring at me from across the carpark.

Steve pulls up outside the small coffee shop and we quickly dash inside out of the cold. The beautiful smell of fresh coffee beans envelopes me like a warm blanket as soon as we step into the quaint little cafe. We quickly order our beverages and sit down at a table near the window.
"What's new with you Steve?" I ask the boy in-front of me watching as a huge grin breaks out across his face.
"Me and Nancy wheeler are talking again. As friends of course I just didn't expect her to talk to me again once she started seeing Johnathan"
I try not to give him a look of pity afrer all he was clearly excited. The poor boy is obviously still in love with Nancy, no matter how many girls he flirts with to try get over her.
"What does Robin think of your budding new friendship?"
"She thinks that I spend too much time talking about girls"
I laugh slightly at his statement. "As if she doesn't spend half her time talking about girls"
He grins cheekily at me "see that's what I said but apparently this is different because I've already dated Nancy. But I told her we aren't dating we are just going back to being friends, finally" he sighs as he says the last word.
"Well I think it's lovely that you're both talking again, how is she?"
"She's doing well, she's constantly studying as per usual and working on the school newspaper"
I nod along as he continues to excitedly talk about the wheeler girls extra curricular activities.
"So Ave what's going on with you and Munson? Word around the school is you were seen K I S S I N G" he teases me causing me to roll my eyes.
"There may have been a kiss" I feel the heat rise to my cheeks.
"Sooooo.. are you and stoner boy dating?"
I shake my head, " not dating but I like where things are going"
He grins happily as he places down his empty cup. "Well I've never seen you get excited about a boy before it's nice."
I use my hair to cover my bright red cheeks and mumble a quiet shut up as i finish off the last of my coffee.
"Well let's get you home, I've got a study session with Nancy in a little while."
"You study? I thought you just planned to get by on your looks" I  joke as we make our way back to his car.
"Well it's senior year, I thought I might miss an important part of high school if I don't at least pick up a book once." He responds with a wink as we head to the trailer park.
Smiling at Steve I thank him as he pulls up outside my trailer.
"Have fun studying, nerd" I call out as I walk away from his car. I could almost feel his eyes rolling behind me as the vehicle pulls away from the curb.
I quickly unlock my door and head straight to my bedroom eager to flop down on my bed to relax after the long day. Glancing at my desk I frown as I remember Eddie had taken the walkie talkies to a friend and now I had no way to speak to the boy. My eyes divert to look out the window instead as soft white snowflakes fall from the sky. Slowly my eyes start to feel heavy as I watch the pristine white clumps drift in the wind.

Fire, fire! All I can see are flames all around me.

I sit up quickly sweating and panting as I clutch my chest, trying to regulate my breathing by reminding myself that it was just another nightmare. I glance around my now dark room, I look to the only light coming from my alarm clock which read 23:17.
Sighing I stand up from the bed my legs still slightly shaky from the horrible memory that replays in my head every time I drift into sleep. I stumble my way over to the kitchen as my stomach rumbles angrily at me for sleeping through dinner. Without giving it much thought I switch the oven on and grab a cheese pizza out of the freezer. After a few seconds I decide to roll myself a joint while the oven heats up, quietly I shuffle back to my bedroom and begin rolling up.
Before long I am heading back to the kitchen to put the pizza on then grab my coat and open the front door. Scared that going out the back would wake my sleeping mother who had managed to make it to her bedroom today I decide to sit out front.
Silently I slip through the door and plonk myself down on the cold step, I spark up quickly not wanting to be reminded of my awful memories and reoccurring nightmares as I flick the lighter to life. Peace overcomes my body as the intoxicating smoke fills my lungs, relaxing my tired muscles and aching brain.

After a few seconds of inhaling the drug into my lungs I hear a twig snap and glance over towards the sound. A soft smile overtakes my face as I notice a tall boy with long curly hair walking through the grass and crossing the road.
Once he gets closer I hold out the spliff in my hand as a form of greeting.
He takes it from my fingers pulling away quickly as his skin grazes against mine. "Hey" his voice came out gruff and harsh as if he something was annoying him.
I pat the space next to me as I shuffle over allowing him to join me on the icy step. "Hey Eddie"
He thinks for a moment before sitting next to me, immediately I gravitate towards his warmth and rest my head in his shoulder. I breathe in his musky smokey scent with a quiet sigh.
Silently he passes me back the smoke and leans back on his hands causing my head to move off his shoulder. I sit myself up silently cursing myself for getting to comfortable and cozy with him already and continue to smoke.
"So how's Harrington?" He asked his town sounding slightly bitter.
I glance over at him to notice his hands balled into fists, is he jealous?
"He's doing well, he wanted to go for a coffee and have a catch up."
He sighs as I hand him back the smoke "how long have you been friends?"
I look over at him again "well I have been friends with Steve for a long time. Just friends"' I add the last part reassuringly.
"Sorry I guess when I saw you drive off with him earlier and sit with him at lunch. I thought... I don't even know what I thought"
I nod my head and kill the smoke as I stand up, " do you want some pizza?"

Quietly we both walk back into my trailer as I rush to take the pizza out the oven he sits down at the counter.
