"What the fuck are you doing, yo?" I raised my hands in the air as I yelled at my ex-girlfriend. Or, the shell of what remained of shorty. She wasn't herself anymore. I heard rumors spreading that she was cracked out but I didn't want to believe it to be true.
Her jacket was ripped on the shoulder part and white wool spilled from it. Her hair was a mess and hasn't been combed through at all. Her beautiful face was now sunken in and her skin was paler than a snow storm.
"I just wanted to see the girl that's living my dream." She said with a shaken voice. She didn't even sound like herself no more.
"The fuck are you on about, Bianca? How you even find out?" I kissed my teeth as I was studying her body language. She couldn't even lift her head to look at me.
"Word spreads fast, Nas." Was all that she said as she held the teddy bear to her caved chest. "Besides, I didn't want to miss this moment for the world." She said with a smile not so bright. Her side tooth was missing and her bright smile was dull in hue.
"Thank you for coming, but you got to go." I said as I put my hands on her shoulders. Her feet stopped me from pushing her toward to door she came from.
"Wait, wait, wait. Can we just talk?" She begged me. "What, Bianca? WHAT?" I yelled at her loud enough that my family was staring at me hard as fuck. I yanked her by her arm and pulled her outside where it was freezing.
"What you want to talk about, huh?" I asked with a sheet of annoyance in my tone. I folded my arms as I tried to stay warm in this cold climate.
"I heard your tape. The shit is tight." She said. She watched as the cars drove by us at a high speed.
"That's it?" I twisted my face at her statement. "That's all you have to say?" I turned back around the walk inside of the venue when her hand tugged on my shirt.
"Nas, I'm sorry." She said with a quaint voice. I looked down at her as she tugged on the sleeve of my plaid button up.
"I'm sorry for the shit I did to you in the past. I didn't deserve you." She said with tears welling in her eyes.
First, it was Prod that told me he was diagnosed with Sickle Cell. Now, my ex is here apologizing to me and strung out on rocks? I couldn't take much more of this shit.
"I appreciate your apology, but you got to go, aight?" I reached into my pocket and handed her a twenty dollar bill. "It's not much, but get back safe." I said to her as she took the money quickly from my hand.
"Thank you, Nas." She said as she handed me the brown teddy bear. I watched her walk down the block and flag a car down. It wasn't a taxi. She twirled her hair with her finger and smiled as she got into the passenger seat of the car.
I tossed the bear on the sidewalk and walked back into the venue with my head low.

Nasir was silent as he sat in the living room of our apartment. AZ and Stacy drove back to our apartment with us to help us with the plethora of gifts we had been given and food that was left over.
I was still dressed in the clothing I had worn at the shower as I sat next to Nasir on the couch. AZ and Stacy sat at our dining table, conversing amongst themselves.
I placed my hand on Nasir's knee. "You okay?" I asked him softly as I studied his facial expression. It was soulless. Like he wasn't there, but his body was.
"You don't have to talk to me now, but I'm here if you want to talk later, okay?" I leaned over to kiss his cheek before struggling to get up from the couch. Stacy rushed over from the dining table to help me.
