Stacy's hands were raised above her head, snapping to the beat of 'The World Is Yours'. We were standing on the side of the stage, slowly sipping the alcoholic beverages that were given to us in clear plastic cups. We weren't even old enough to drink yet, but months shy from twenty-one.
The sea of people were rocking back and forth to the live performance that Nasir was putting on. His green bomber jacket was unzipped, showing off his graphic tee and his baggy jeans to match the entire fit. His waves were shining underneath the club lights as he rhymed his heart out on stage.
AZ was his hype man with Jungle running ramped around the stage, getting the crowd hype for his big brother.
"I'm out for president's to represent me!"
The crowd yelled back 'say what' with each call Nasir yelled into the microphone.
"I'm out for dead fucking presidents to represent me! Whose world is this?" Nasir yelled into the microphone as the crowd responded to his word. Everyone in the club sang the chorus in unison. Stacy and I held each other's hands and joined in with the crowd.
"It's mine, it's mine, it's mine!
Whose world is this?"
Stacy and I sang together. Nasir walked over to the edge of the stage, where we were standing and pointed at me.
"The world is yours, baby!
The world is yours!"
He winked at me before walking back to the center of the stage to continue the record.
"To my nigga Ill Will, God bless your life!
To my peoples throughout Queens, God bless your life!"
Nasir said with conviction as he tweaked the lyrics to the song. The people of Queens who traveled to The Tunnel to see him perform tonight, roared at the mention of their borough.
Stacy and I nodded our heads to the bass as we sipped our drinks simultaneously, enjoying Nasir's performance. I felt a tap on my shoulder and didn't think much of it until I felt the same pressure being applied again on my shoulder.
I looked over and noticed Ron standing next to me with Tionne beside him.
"Oh shit!" I yelled out loud. Stacy looked over and noticed them standing there.
"What's up, y'all?" I said with a bit of a slur.
"Was in town. Decided to check your mans out." Ron said with a smile on his face, holding his bag in his hand that was connected to a tube that went through his stomach.
"Glad to see you out and about, Ron." I said as I placed my hand on his shoulder as he looked down at me. I waved at Tionne as I turned my attention back to Nasir.
I noticed Ron not moving at all. As Tionne was talking to him from the corner of my eye, I looked over at Ron. His eyes were completely dark. Fearless even. "Tionne, you want a drink?" He asked her. She shook her head 'no' and left us women to enjoy the show.
Tionne stepped closer to me and nodded her head at Stacy. Stacy did the same. I pushed my hair behind my shoulders as I raised my hands in the air as the beat changed to a transition into the next song.
"Y'all still fucking with me, right?" Nasir said calmly into the microphone. The crowd cheered as a response. "I was hoping you'd say that." He said with a chip toothed smile. "Run that shit."
