Chapter 5

"Woah! We aren't hostile!" Rick announced as he rose his hands up, showing he was surrendering. "Bullshit, you were chasing my daughters!" Teo exclaimed as he kept his gun raised. "Maggie, what the fuck is going on here?" Mable asked as she stared at their neighbor.

"I don't know, I was following them when I saw Andy and Mika run past the farm" Maggie explained with a slight frown. "Wait, you're the fucker who almost killed my daughter!" Pierce pointed out while gesturing to Shane with his gun.

"No, I didn't do shit!" Shane denied hastily, which did not convince the group at all. "Quit lying, you killed Otis and tried to leave me for dead!" Andy exclaimed, which earned a gasp from Maggie. "Wait a moment! That's not the Shane I know! He's basically my brother!" Rick defended, not believing Andy one bit.

"Well, clearly you don't know him that well!" Melody snapped back, clearly offended that he called her sister a liar. "Hey! He's trustworthy, unlike her who didn't tell us about this base!" Andrea exclaimed, offended for Shane.

"Tch, why would I tell you anything about our home? We don't know you" Andy said while letting out a scoff. "Quit fighting! Why can't we all share? This farm is probably big enough for the both of us!" Rick argued to his comrades and the group behind the fence.

"It's up to us to decide who we share OUR home with" Mable exclaimed, quite pissed off with the suggestion. "And there is no way we'll let that bastard in," Pierce added while pointing his gun at Shane. "But we have women and children, we just need a place that's safe" Rick tried to reason, almost begging at this point.

"I heard, from my daughter, that you're at Hershals. Why do you need to be here when you have Hershal's farm?" Teo argued back. "Not for long, we're just helping his kid" Maggie butted in while gesturing to Rick.

"His kid? What's wrong with his kid?" Mable asked curiously, slightly worried for the child. "My kid was shot by one of their men. He's currently getting help, but after that, we have nowhere else to go" Rick said, with a pleading look.

Mable quickly glanced at Pierce as if silently speaking to him. They sympathize with Rick's predicament, due to also being parents. But, in challenging situations, they cannot trust the strangers, especially when Shane is still a looming threat.

Teo goes to speak out, only to be quickly interrupted by a hand being placed on his shoulder. "Teo, let's talk over there" Mable whispered to him as she gestured her head. With that, Mable, Teo, and Pierce shuffled off to the side. But, not far enough to allow the group to take advantage of them.

"Rick... I don't think they'll let us in, they seriously hate Shane" Glenn whispered to Rick. "Don't worry, I've got it handled" Rick reassured, but that did not convince Glenn.

"Fuck this shit" Melody huffed as she matched towards the gates. She opens the gates and lets out a loud whistle. This makes six large dogs come out of their dog houses and run to the outer gates. On cue, dogs jump at the gate and let out loud dark growls.

"If you do not leave right now, I will send my dogs on you and let them tear you apart!" She shouts at them. The outsiders visibly flinch away from the gate as the dogs tear at the fence. Rick looked into Melody's eyes, as if in hopes that she was not serious.

But, because of the noise, a few walkers nearby come toward the group, forcing them to completely back away from the fence. Leaving them no choice but to run back to Hershel's farm. Shane sends one last glare in Andy's direction as they ran, earning the middle finger from her.

Melody calls the dogs off and brings them to their houses. She walks up to her family and they close the inner gates. Teo walks toward Melody and hands her the walkie-talkie, "It's your turn to be the lookout, I am going to take a piss". Everyone except Melody walks towards the main house, now concerned about the new outsiders.
