No, I don't think I've ever felt this way for anybody. As overrated as that thought is, I think it's true.

It very much is.

After we had our moment, part of me expected Akaashi to grow distant or ask for it often, like before. But that's not what happened with him. What happened was far from it. Akaashi instead spent time with me, planning small dates, taking me on walks, or painting with me at our lake. It was new to me, the attention and care I got was new to me. I also expected for it to last a month and no more, but it wasn't like that.

Akaashi and I were in love for many months and he was still the person who I accidentally kissed on my first day of work.

Our relationship was no secret anymore, and everybody at the university was aware of it. At first we got some looks but they couldn't judge knowing that our age difference wasn't too much. Some of my classmates would joke around about how he would purposely give me extra credit just because we were together, but that stopped when Akaashi gave me a 0 on a project.

Our biggest obstacle was probably Fei. Fei had tried to approach me numerous times but Akaashi would only block him out. Once he even tried to strike up an argument, but Akaashi being Akaashi shoo'd him away like he was a fly. Fei would often glare at me in the halls or in the lounge, but I wasn't afraid of him anymore.

But over everything, what truly took over me was the fact that Akaashi told his parents about me.

And today was the day I would meet them.

It was the first morning of summer and I was panicking, running back into my bedroom because I'd forgotten to pack my charger. While shoving it inside my bag, the bell rang. I jumped from the noise and quickly rushed to get it. After twisting the knob and pulling the door, Akaashi stood there with a flower in his hand and a coffee cup. It was a yellow dandelion.

"Hi sweetheart," he stepped over, kissing my cheek and giving me the flower. Immediately, the panic and anxiety I had disappeared.

I smiled and took it. "What's this?"'

"I was walking and found one near my house. This one was fully developed so I picked it for you."

"Adorable," I chuckled. "Since when did you start drinking coffee?"

"Since never. It's for you. I assumed you didn't get one because you'd be busy in the morning...are you fine? You looked nervous."

"I am!" I whined, taking the coffee and sipping it. The hot liquid burnt my tongue a little. "OUCH!"

"...be careful. Don't be nervous, I promise it's not going to be bad."

"What if I mess up?"

"When have you ever? Anyways, where's your suitcase?"

"Oh, I'm only taking one and a shoulder bag," I grabbed the handle and slid it in front of me.

"I've got it," he said, effortlessly picking it up. "Come on. We'll get breakfast on the way and grab a few snacks for the long trip."

"How caring," I snickered, closing the door behind me and locking it. I followed Akaashi to his car and sat in the front seat as he closed the trunk and got in the driver's seat.

The car ride was good. Akaashi and I stopped to have breakfast and I paid for it since he got me coffee. The only thing was that they didn't accept my money because apparently Akaashi paid beforehand. He did this often and I always felt bad but he assured me that it wasn't a problem.

The view of the countryside was amazing and although the trip was long, I enjoyed looking at the hills and lakes and more breathtaking nature. Akaashi told me they lived in a traditional Japanese house and that they even had a small pond in their yard. The thought of meeting his parents was quite scary and nerve-wrecking but he trusted me enough and that's all that mattered.

The car came to a stop near the house and my leg was shaking up and down rapidly. I bit my lower lip and whispered out loud what I had planned to say to them for the past two days. Akaashi sighed and placed his hand on my leg, kissing my cheek.

"Don't be scared, Ece. You will be fine. I'll be there with you," he used words to comfort me. My leg miraculously stopped shaking and my heart calmed down.

We got out of the car as fresh air greeted us.

"We'll bring the bags later on. Let's meet them first," Akaashi suggested as I nodded.

He came beside me and locked his hand with mine, his thumb softly caressing the back of it. We made our way on their porch and Akaashi knocked on the door before fixing his simple half-sleeve button up. We smiled at each other before the door slid open and two quite tall couples stood there in their kimonos.

"Mother, father," Akaashi bowed before lifting himself. "This is Tenkin. Tenkin Ece."

I quickly bowed with a smile. They returned it back and chuckled. The lady stepped over to me and held my hands with her soft ones.

"Oh, look at you! I always had faith in Akaashi that he would bring home such a beautiful daughter-in-law!"

I widened my eyes at her words as she suddenly pulled me into a hug and I kindly accepted it. I glanced over to Akaashi who smiled at me and unexpectedly was pulled into a hug too, being crushed by his huge father before he let go of him and messed up his hair.

"Welcome back, my boy!"

After the greeting, they gave me a tour while Akaashi set our bags in the room. Their house was lovely. It was located on a hill, so the view was marvelous and the traditional look was cozy. Akaashi's mom seemed to love me already and I was so relieved to know that. They weren't judgemental at all but they were really curious about my eyes.

"Green eyes are so pretty!" she exclaimed, patting my back.

"Thank you. Akaashi mentioned before that you two share the same dark blue eyes. I love them."

His father cleared his throat and sarcastically whined. "You know, brown eyes are great too!"

"They are," I assured him, chuckling.

Akaashi stepped out in the backyard. "Ece, I've placed our bags in the room. Ma, is there anything to eat?"

"Oh, surely! Sorry, I was caught up with showing her the pond. We've got 8 koi fishes now," she giggled, gently grabbing my arm and leading me inside. "Come on, let's eat up. I've made my special soup dumplings!"

Never have I ever tasted soup this good. It was extraordinary and different from anything I've tried, and the dumpling filling was delicious. I couldn't help but praise every time I took a bite and I even asked for the recipe. His mom began explaining the process and I listened attentively, earning Akaashi's gaze. The sight of the two women he loved the most bonding was everything to him.

Finally, I sipped the last bit of soup in my bowl. "That was amazing. Thank you so much for this."

"Oh, don't you worry. I'm glad you enjoyed it," his mother replied, taking a sip of water. "In fact, thank you for accepting Akaashi's proposal! I can't be-"

"Proposal?" I questioned, tilting my head.

"Yeah! He hasn't given you the ring yet?"

"Ring..?" I turned my head to Akaashi who was glaring at his mom with his mouth hung open.

She looked at him and froze, covering her mouth with her palm. His dad widened his eyes and facepalmed, shaking his head.
