3) Rain Symbolism

"My name, like a leaf in a rainstorm. The water pelts down on the greenery, forcing the stem to bend towards the ground as the water rolls off in waves. A small waterfall falls down the plant, like tears. The tears during the storm. But no matter, once the sun rises from the horizon once more, the plant will find itself slowly turning towards the sun. It's the only lifeline to remain alive. Though death is just around the corner.

"A dreamlike state of unfathomable ideals that are deeply flawed and strung together with floss, are what rot in my brain on a daily basis. The thin papers and posters of possible outcomes of my life lay blank on the walls of my consciousness. The room is bare as I lay in bed, watching the time tick by as if it were a faucet drip drip dripping steadily.

"So I found myself, after years of trivial tribulation and self-abandonment, covering up the blank walls and posters and papers. In their place I tape up the colors of hope, so I find myself uplifted even though my leaves are dripping and battered."

"Okay, does anyone want to make a guess as to what this first excerpt means?" Bakugo asked as he walked through desk isles, book in hand. He had just finished reading the first section of the small autobiography.

Seeing as no one raised their hand, and he only got a number of averted gazes and blank stares, he continued. "Okay, let me ask an easier question…what does rain commonly signify in literature crap?"

A couple moments pass by before he notices no one attempting to answer.

"Come on, don't make me call on anyone randomly. I hate doing that as much as you all do." He glared at the class, almost daring someone to not answer.

Until finally, a girl from the back row raises her hand. Her hair was orange, braided in two sections.

"Yes? Orange braids." Bakugo motioned towards her with his book-holding hand.

"Ah, well my name is Ohriyu. And rain usually signifies a sense of sadness or longing--sometimes even depression."

That is a dumb name, I doubt anyone will remember it.

I'm definitely not going to remember it, so Orange Braids it is.

"Bingo. Okay someone else. Does anyone know what the sun represents in this piece?" He immediately sees a hand up and motions to it.

"Insomniac, speak."

The tired looking teen puts his hand down. "Maybe his idol or reasoning to get out of his saddened state? Since the rain was drowning the plant and waiting for the sun to come out eventually…I dunno." He mumbled, slowly losing confidence as he talked.

"Your thought process was valid. Work on speaking up." Bakugo commented on the teen.

He really wasn't used to giving compliments or encouragement to people, much less children. But upon taking the job, Nezu had met with him to discuss teenage emotions. Specifically, how a fellow classmate yelling at them, versus their teacher yelling at them, were two different things.

Apparently kids have feelings and didn't want to get yelled at by their teacher in front of their peers. Especially in front of their peers.

A hand shot up before Bakugo could voice the next question. "Yes, Wings?"

The blue winged boy leaned forward in his seat as he braced himself to ask his question. His feathers ruffled and wings expanded slightly in excitement.

"Why did he use floss? It doesn't seem to have an ulterior meaning–?"

Bakugo paused before turning to other classmates. "Does anyone else want to answer what they think?" A few moments pass of mediocre silence before a sigh pushes through their teacher's lips. "Okay, we will make sure to work on group discussions later. To answer your question, he said it because floss is a relatively weak thing to use in place of a rope or wire or something stronger. In comparison, floss breaks extremely fast when put under pressure...similar to the pressure the author feels internally. Make sense?"

The winged teen nodded, seemingly content with his answer.

With that, Bakugo moved on to analyzing a different part of the piece.
