MOTLALEPULA
I wake up feeling very light on Thursday. I guess shedding a couple of tears is what I needed to reboot and move on.
If I'm being honest, I left Mlu a long time ago. What was remaining was for me to let it be known. I believe that if you get to a point where you're expecting someone to disappoint you and they really do, and you also start being affected by someone else, in my case, Dakalo. Then your relationship had truly run its course and that was the case for me. It's almost like I was waiting for him to mess up just one more time, just one.
The only thing that remains is his words 'she's different'
That still messes with me. Was he implying that I'm not good enough? Or I'm too plain? I know I'm not girly girl as most people would put it. Hell, I can't even apply make up as perfect as most young women my age can. When I do my nails, which is like once in the longest time, I keep them short and simple. I hate fake eyelashes, the last time I put them on I ended up with burning red eyes and the tears wouldn't stop coming out, I looked hideous. I prefer high waist pants and mom jeans and boyfriend jackets or some laid back tom boyish nerd kind of look and I've always loved it. I can't walk in stilletos, I'd definitely end up with a sprained ankle. Ditiro made me try once in my bedroom and let's just say, a duck walks better.
Maybe that's why Mlu went for Jess. She's definitely a ten when it comes to looks, she's definitely in the same league as Sindi... So why would Dakalo want-
Okay, I need to stop.
I grab my things and walk out of my bedroom and I find my dad in the kitchen finishing up with our lunch boxes.
"Good morning, papa. " I greet him and he raises his head.
"Good morning my girl. Did you sleep well?"
"I did, You?"
"Same here. Your lunch is ready." he says and I reach for it.
"Thank you, Where's aunty?"
"She took the morning off, she's not too well. " he says and the look on his face gets me worried.
"What's going on? She's been like this for a while now."
"She's just going through some things, but we are working on it. You don't have to worry."
"But I do worry, Papa. I've never seen her like this."
"She just needs time. That's all." he says and I can tell he's trying to be done with this conversation, which makes me even more curious about what's going on but I don't question him.
"What can I do to help?" I ask him and he smiles warmly at me.
"Just remind her how much she's loved and appreciated in this house, It will really mean a lot to her." he says and I nod.
"Okay, I'll get going now." I walk around the kitchen island to give him a hug. He's clearly troubled too. "I love you."
"I love you too, Enjoy your day and drive safe." he says.
"Always."
As soon as I'm in my car I put on my playlist, turn up the volume and hit the road with my wooden mic singing.
Luckily there's not much traffic so I make it to work on time. I park and waste no time getting out and making my way in.
"What's the rush?" A voice asks from behind, I already know who it is and I try not to smile too much.
"I'm trying to make it to the office before my boss."
"I don't think he minds arriving before you."
"Still, I'm still trying to impress." I say jokingly and Dakalo chuckles.
