It was a seemingly avarage day at Camp Cambell. Though, there was one thing that only seemed to bother a few of the campers and one Counselor; Max was nowhere to be found.
-
David was worrying so much, he could probably use some of Gwens anti-anxiety pills. Mentioning the other Co-Counselor; she didn't mind Max' disappearance too much, but she pretended for the sake of david, he'll come back in no less than a hour, She thought.
As for the Camp Campbell Campers;
most of them didn't seem to care a lot, or maybe they haven't even noticed.
The only ones that did seem to care were Neil, Nikki and Preston.As for Neil and Nikki; it was no surprise that they would be worried, after all they were his best friends.
But in Prestons case, most others were confused; why would someone like him care about someone like Max?
Most of the time they seemed to hate each other; fighting and generally insulting one another every time they had the chance to. It wasn't very rare for them to get hurt when they fought, often unnecessarily dragging others into their disagreements as well.
And now he suddenly cared so much? What was going on in his head?But no matter how much the other campers would want to know and how many times they asked him, he wouldn't give them an answer, not a clear one anyway.
Though there were two people that did know why; Nerris and Harrison.
And if they would answer the other kids' question, which Preston didn't want them to do, their anwser would be simple, short and easy; "He's in love~" they'd say, laughing. But Preston didn't want anyone to know about his crush on the black haired boy, that would be way too embarrassing; he probably doesnt even like him back. Heck, he hates him, righ? But that didn't really matter to Preston too much, not now anyway, the only thing he was worrying about now was if the missing boy was fine.
"Hmmm, how about you just, you know, go look for him?" Harrison proposed, Preston looked up from his suspiciously gooey 'mashed potatoes'.
He stayed silent, staring at his best friend for a bit before answering, looking more confident as each second passed; "Maybe I will."××××××××××××××××××××××××××××
Preston sneaked out of his tent. It had been one and a half hours since Max was last seen, by Space Kid and Dolph, and Preston decided that it was finally time to search for him.
Walking through the woods, the theater lover grew more and more anxious "What if I get lost?", "What if they realize I'm gone and start looking for me?", "what if they don't?", "What if I won't be able to find him?!-", his panicking thoughts got interrupted as he heard a sniff from behind the tree that he was standing in front of.
His curiosity getting the better of him, he slowly walked around the tree, only to find...
...a crying Max?
Preston gasped, as he had never seen the shorter boy in such a state; his back was pushed against the tree, probably scratching him, his legs were cuddled tight to his chest whlist his head was resting on his knees. Keyword: 'was', because as soon as he heard Preston gasp, he looked up and straightening himself. His tired, blood-shot, cyan-green eyes met shocked, orangey-hazel ones.
"Ma-Max?" Preston managed to stutter out after they had both stared in each others eyes for approximately forty-five seconds. "What?" the smaller boy aggressively snapped in response, wiping the salty tears from his eyes using his dirty sleeves and looking away from Preston. "What the hell happened?! Are you okay?!?" The older boy exclaimed, sitting down beside Max, facing him. He just hummed in response.
