There was some dark humor in his words, which only served to confuse me. I was trying to hide that from him, but he could probably tell I had no idea what he was saying.

"You're saying my father is guilty?"

"No, I'm saying that King Luther, Craven, Richard, Asher, and even my dad, played dangerous games a long time ago."

"Was that why he left?" I prompted.

"No, he left when King Luther did something that Craven could never forgive. That is saying a lot, considering both of them did a whole lot of bad in their time."

"What happened?" Zander didn't reply. He just stared at me, and remained quiet.

"Tell me what happened!" I ordered in a shout.

"I can't!" Zander yelled back.I took a step back. I hadn't expected him to raise his voice at me.

"Why not?" I asked, my voice a lot softer than it was a few moments before.

"Do you think I got in this deep into this mess by spilling everything that happened to just anybody?" Zander asked, acting like if his words should've been obvious to me.

"It's a little late for that, don't you think? Your father isn't here, my father is locked up, Richard is about to get executed, and King Luther is dead. Asher is the only one left from the group you mentioned."

"What exactly did Craven tell you?"

"He asked me to find a way to set you free."

"That's it?" I nodded, and waited for him to say something.

"Why did you and my dad escape last time? You must've known that you were going to get caught. We're in a freaken Island. Where would you even go?"

"How do you know that wasn't the purpose?" Zander asked, with a smirk plastered on his face.

I narrowed my eyes at him. Zander had never really done anything to me, but it wasn't like I could just trust him.
