The songbirds sing

Introduction

"Cadet, we want to test your stamina, strength, and agility. We want to test and see what weapons you will be able to use the best" said the commander
I turn to see the rack of weapons behind me, right away a sword with a gold handle catches my eye. I immediately grabbed the sword and swung it.
"Now things are going to be shot at you and you have to deflect or slice the objects as best you can, good luck" said the commander.
"I don't need luck," I said. Then All of a sudden things started flying at me. I brought the sword up to my face then I charged at the objects dodging and slicing every last object until finally the tests were done.
"Nice job you are the first person today to dodge every object and you're snarky too, what's your name and am I correct in thinking you're the queen's daughter too," asked the commander.
"Yes, yes you are, my name is Annalise Caustaryn. And you are" I asked.
"Well, I'm Commander Dax. you will be joining our ranks in a new troop for gifted warriors also known as the 2000 division so good job" said Commander Dax.
"Saylor, Jeremiah guess what" I yelled to my best friends after I left the testing room.
"What did you get a spot in a troop?" asked Saylor.
"Yeah and even better I got into the troop for the gifted soldiers," I said excitedly.
"So did we, I'm now soldier 2717 and Jeremiah is now soldier 2831," said Saylor excitedly.
"Where is my brother? I want to know how he did and congrats" I said.
"Oh Kenji is over there," said Jeremiah pointing to a corner where my little brother Kenji was sitting with his head in his arms.
"Well see you later," I said, walking over to Kenji.
"Hey, how did my favorite brother do," I asked once I got to my brother Kenji. He looked up at me with tears in his eyes.
"They're putting me in a troop on the west coast near Tathorn," said Kenji, crying more knowing he'd have to leave Caustaryn.
"It's ok Kenj, the war won't last forever. I'll see you soon," I said.
"B-but what if I never see you again like mom," cried Kenji.
"Time to go, prince," said a soldier putting his hand on Kenji's shoulder.
"Anna I don't wanna go I wanna stay with you please!" He screamed holding my arm as the soldier picked him up about to carry him away.
I held back my tears as I stood up and kissed my brother's cheek letting the guard carry him away.

Authors note srry the chapters are kinda short if you don't like how short they are please comment I'll try and get better abt the length but anyway this is definitely one of my favorite stories I have ever written so expect a lot of updates anyway like half way through writing these chapters I decided I didn't like the spelling of Saylor name so srry if  I at some points spell her name wrong any way hope you like it.
