"Caustaryn," yelled Berckshow.
"Yes sir?" I yelled back. We were training in Altrench one of the many outer banks of the west.
"What weapon do you use?" He asked, pulling a dagger out of its sheath and sharpening it.
"Any doesn't matter to me," I said, putting my sword on my back and walking over to him.
"You good with a bow?" He asked curiously.
"Yeah but Jeremiah's the real archer," I said sitting next to him and observing the others training.
"What about Saylor she any good with a bow," he asked, pointing at Sailor across the training field.
"Nah she's a swordsman she couldn't do any damage with a bow," I said standing up from beside him.
"Did I mention I fought alongside your mother?" He asked smiling up at me.
"No you didn't," I said looking away from him, "if that is all you needed I will be one my way," I said excusing myself and walking towards Saylor.
"Hey Caustaryn wanna spar," Saylor asked, looking at me excitedly.
"Hand to hand?" I asked standing in front of her.
"Duh," she said, putting her hands up in front of her body.
I stood across from her mirroring her stance. I shuffled towards her and threw a jab at her with my left and my right went up for an uppercut. She dodged barely as she countered my blows. I swung at her with a right hook and as she bobbled off balance from the hit I kicked her in the stomach she stumbled back never falling. Out of breath I swung my leg behind her knee and pulled her to the floor. Her legs buckled but she regained balance and punched at me pushing me away from her. I fell off balance narrowly falling to the floor but just barely catching myself. I stood up and swung my legs at her feet catching her off guard making her land on the floor. I grabbed her arm and put it behind her back in between her shoulder blades and pushed her to the ground, with her free arm she smacked the ground tapping out declaring me the winner.
I freed her arm and stood letting her turn onto her back. I reached out and she grabbed my hand pulling herself up, "nice job almost had me for a moment," I said panting.
She chuckled in response, out of breath we slowly walked back to our shared tent at the very back of the girls tent area.
"Oh hey Anna hey Saylor," Jeremiah said as we entered the tent.
"Hey mate," I said smiling at him and sitting on the floor in front of him.
"Did you hear what everyone around has been saying?" Asked Saylor sitting beside Jeremiah on his makeshift bed.
"No what?" Jeremiah and I said in sync.
"There's rumor that high ups are planning on having the most skilled go up the river to Madriyn and train there for a time and then when we're ready heading up into the mountains into Envair to attack at their weakest point," Saylor said with Jeremiah smoking a cigarette beside her.
"Not a bad plan but definitely not a good plan Envair my not be great at fighting but they'll be expecting it and those who are good at fighting are amazing at it," I said frustrated at the stupidity of the idea, "and besides it will take us a long while to make it cross the river and through the mountains and we are the most skilled warriors the second we're gone and a weak spot is exposed they will just attack."
"The plan isn't proven it's all just speculation but all I do know for sure is they are planning something I just can't say for sure what that something is," Saylor said trying to sound dramatic.
