His Wife

Information:

This takes place in the court house when everyone is testifying against Hannibal and his crimes.

Everyone says how horrible he is. How cruel. While they are right Will takes a different approach. He tells everyone how human Hannibal can be with the right person.

It was Wills turn to take the stand. Surely he has a lot to say. The man who he called his friend framed him for being the Chesapeake Ripper. So you know he'd have a lot to say against him? Well yes. He sure did. He told how horrible and what a monster Hannibal is. But he also knows there's more to Hannibal then just that.

Will looked over at Hannibal. Hannibal wasn't even looking at him. He still was looking at the ground of the courtroom floor. He has been since the beginning of this. But why? Will was confused slightly. He was sure Hannibal would at least look at him. But no. His gaze was at the floor.

"Mr.Graham did you hear me?"

Will looked at the attorney who is trying to put away the man who he called his friend.

"What?"

"Do you believe that Hannibal manipulated his wife into marrying him?" The attorney asked.

Will glances over at Hannibal. No. No he doesn't believe that at all. Everyone else who testified said yes but..that's not true. He knows Hannibal would never do that. Will knew that Hannibal was head over heels for his wife.

"Absolutely not"

The crowd slightly gasped. Jack wasn't happy. Why? Why would Will say that? Surely he can't be that stupid. Hannibal was a monster. There's no way that any women would willingly be with him.

"Hannibal is a monster don't get me wrong and he should be punished for what he did but there is no way he would ever hurt or manipulate his wife. He loves his wife. And his wife loves him" Will looked over at Hannibal who was now staring at him "I've seen that man show so much emotion with Y/N..I've seen him cry, I've seen him smile and laugh, hell I've even seen him show concern. There is no possible way he manipulated Y/N"

Hannibal was crying under his mask. Tears fell down his face. Y/N..he'll never be able to see her again. Never be able to hear her voice, see her beautiful face..it hurt his heart. What little human he had in him was broken. He knows he's a monster but not a monster when it comes to his wife. He loves his wife. He would die for her. And Will was the only one who really knew that.

"I'm not the only one who saw it to. Everyone who testified did. They just never said anything. But I am. Hannibal at least deserve to be defended on his love for his wife. If you remove that mask now I'll bet he's crying. Not because I'm defending him. But because he realizes he'll never see his wife again. That's how much he loves her. That's how much he cares for her"

Will looked at Jack and everyone else who testified against Hannibal "I am disappointed that everyone else said Hannibal would manipulate his wife. They know that's not true. They have all seen how human he was with her" he looks back over at the attorney "I remember this one time I was with him and his wife, we were walking in the park. They invited me to join them and I said I would. Y/N said she left her phone in the car and went to go get it. She was crossing the crosswalk when a car came speeding down the road. I didn't even notice it until Hannibal suddenly took off in a sprint. At first I was confused but then I saw the car approaching Y/N. She didn't even notice. Hannibal scream at her to run to him. I ran over myself. I knew there was no way she would be able to move away in time..the car was too fast. I was fully expecting to see her get hit but that wasn't the case. Hannibal pushed her out of the way and took the hit for her"

Will took a deep breath and continued his story "when I got over there Hannibal was on the ground and Y/N was safe on the other side. He had broken rips, broken legs and arms, broken ankle, and a broken collarbone. The doctor was shocked that he was alive. I don't know about everyone else but to me that is true love. I bet half of you in here wouldn't even do that..to me that is a sign of a man who is truly in love with his wife. All he cared about is her safety"

More tears fell down Hannibal's face. He remembered that too..he remembered how scared he was for her. He remembered how terrified he was that he was going to lose his love. He wished he could see his wife again. He knew she wasn't here because she couldn't handle it. He wasn't mad at her..he wouldn't want her to cry.

"I've taught classes on Stockholm Syndrome. And Y/N doesn't show any of those signs. I don't know what the hell everyone else saw but I saw a man who genuinely loves and cares for his wife. And it's the same for Y/N. She genuinely cares for her husband. She loves her husband. That's why she isn't even here. It's not because she's scared to testify. It's because she knows she can't stand to see him be put away. It breaks her heart. She knows no matter what she says it won't make a difference. Because to her..to her Hannibal isn't a monster. To her Hannibal is her caring loving husband. She doesn't see the monster everyone else does. Yeah she knows what he did was wrong but it isn't enough for her to not love him"

Will let out a deep sigh "am I done? I have to go check on Y/N..I have to be there for her. I promised Hannibal I would look after her"

And with that Will got up from the stand and walked out of the courtroom. Hannibal watched him as he left. He couldn't say it but he wanted to thank Will. Not for saying what he said but for actually keeping his promise. He wasn't sure if he would but he is happy knowing his dear wife won't be alone now. She'll have Will to look after her. And that is all Hannibal cares about.
