Chapter 2: Believa
I make my life sound dull but I do have some good friends. They work for my dad with all the horses and training he had to hire help. Sam and Jet are super cool, Jet is a family friend and Sam is a boy who moved here due to family problems so I get along with him better having to grow up without a mother. Jet is 17 and Sam just turned 18 we had a little get together for him. Their brothers but sometimes I think their half the reason I get bullied because they are the hottest kids in town and I shouldn't lower their standards by talking to them. I would never tell Sam or Jet that would break their hearts. The boys try to convince my father that I can handle horses but he just brushes it off and tells them they have loads of jobs to do.
Anyway I have gone off topic about my story and how my life changed for good. With all the great horses that my father owns there was that one horse he wished never got away from him. In 1995 the year before I was born a massive bush fire blackened our farm leaving little life. Dad lost 5 horses and 5 were uncounted for, but one horse who was the smartest of them all. She got away! When a fire hits or any natural disaster takes place. You let your livestock go free so they have a chance to find safety. This horse of my fathers was called Believa there are no words to describe her, my father tells me. When she was spotted by a backpacker he knew she was safe and free and that she was never to be in the hands of a human again. He locked away the photos of her so it looked like she never existed. So she could be free. I couldn't even tell you what she looked like because I don't know myself Sam and Jet tell me that she was beautiful enough to be a part of the Queens collection of horses. I think maybe they were over stated that fact but I look back now and think they were right.
Talking about Believa gets my father more upset than talking about my mum. One night I worked up the courage to ask him what happened and why is she so special. When I did he paused for a moment and went on it took an hour and a half for the whole story to be told, parts made me cry other parts made me laugh but I was so intrigued by the horse I wanted to meet her. The boys warned me how wild she is, in a way I wasn't going to run out in the bush to see her I just dreamt about it. Who knows she could have passed away by now.
