Chapter 11: Mystery Horse
I was unsure about everything about how will dad and I fix this whole argument will we ever be the same I was unsure on everything accept that, that horse I seen today he come all the way from Queensland and he has been over to New Zealand to race. He was tall about Blazes height not as solid he was more legs really long legs with a huge head at first I thought he looked funny but when he is geared up he looked fine, really strong chestnut he was very noticeable I haven't seen him all day only when they loaded him off the truck. That's maybe why there is huge amount of people here and that's why dad was more nervous maybe because this horse was going to beat everyone and beat dad and he hasn't been beaten for years. That makes me even more determined I need to find out about this horse. No wireless out at the track, mmm oh someone's old newspaper that will do. My luck I won't find one. I search endlessly well it felt like that maybe twenty minutes, I have no choice but I asked Jet if he knew where I could find one this late he said that I should go before dad sees me he is still mad, "what am I meant to do then?" where do I go?"
"Jess I'm going to lose my job I need you to go and make up with your dad"
"What, why? You did nothing wrong it was all me, I'm so sorry Jet"
I darted away and left Jet and Sam I was so unsure Blaze was meant to make life better. I just melted it all comes out nothing was making this any better winning proving dad wrong, all I have done is caused Sam to be disappointed Jet will lose his job. This was all going through my mind and I could feel the cold tears dripping down my face it was getting dark and I needed to go and attend to Blaze. "Hey are you okay?" asked a voice
"Who said that" I replied sobbing
"It's okay I'm Aden, I'm new this year I noticed your horse today, she was quick I'll have to keep my eyes on you on Friday"
"How do you you'll be racing Friday?"
"My horse is Johnny Red, he is from Queensland"
"What are you the man that's trying to beat my dad's record!"
" No, nothing like that I come here to meet him and his great horse Patching Jack he was, well still is my idle"
"Who needs a idle when your horse has been to America"
"What that's not my horse he hasn't been out of Queensland let alone to the U.S. They were just stories about my dad he rides over in America breaking in horses and I'm trying to prove a point with my boy Johnny."
"I'm sorry, that sounds a bit like me and my dad."
" Well I better go, I race tomorrow, if all goes well I'll see you on Friday, but before I go can I catch your name?"
"Yeah it's Jess. Good luck Aden"
Well least I know who my competition is it would be nice to race against such a horse but I need to prove myself so it's going to be an even Steven race if he makes it.
"Jessica, put Blaze away and go to bed" said my father with a tone of disappointment. I didn't even bother to reply. The yard for Blaze was set up I'm not sure who to thank for that. My eyes are watering I'm that tired, it doesn't take me long to fall asleep.
