Chapter 5: The black figure
It was early morning and yet the bush still seems to be a scary place. My walk had slowed down a lot I wanted Jet to catch up so I wasn't alone. I'm not scared of the dark or what lurks in it but every now and then I feel that something was following me and did a fake laugh and talked to myself by saying Jet you're not going to scare me, there was no reply. My father taught me that if I let something scare me than it will, but if I ignore it, I will overcome it but in this case I couldn't, I was past were I have ever been in the bush and it was all new to me I Seen this tree that stood out for the rest it was white like a ghost it was also clean it had lost its winter coat of bark, it wasn't the biggest tree but it was thick at the roots. I went and sat beside it the tree made me feel safe I hugged it like it was family I slowly sat down with my back leaning on the tree, I crawled up my legs and put my head in my lap. All the sounds were normal the birds, wind, trees swinging all normal but one that had me very intrigue, I had heard it before but where? With all the dry leaf litter it was easy to make a slight movement as nosy as can be. There it was again the noise but this time I knew where I had heard it, it was a horse it was Sandy trying to find any form of Grass that lays underneath the leafing litter. When I turned ever so slowly it wasn't Sandy! This black figure stood with its head down nibbling at a piece of bark. It had to be Believa she is the only wild horse. She knew I was there her ears were moving like satellites and eyes were stalking the area like a predator would stalk their pray. Her beauty was something you would only ever dream of, you had to look past the mudding coat and the winter fur leaving her. It was only when she moved her back left leg forward that be hide her was Sandy just nibbling at the ground, I wanted to get up and take Sandy home but with Believa there I was just too scared. I waited for a couple of minutes then worked up a little courage to stand up I used the ghost white tree to help pull me up, with the dry leaf litter any little movement would make the loudest noise. One leaf was all it took; I moved my foot just a bit closer to the horses and one leaf made enough noise for me to see the long strong neck rise from the ground. Believa's body went into an alert position it made all the muscles look like solid rocks. In her stance I felt that she knew she was very strong and fast almost like she was indestructible. When I thought I was safe Believa jumped straight into a trot it looked like she was showing off. Sandy's little legs were going flat out to keep up with Believa trot they both came to a halt just a few meters away from me, Believa's black eyes looked into mine just for a moment. She turned around and pushed Sandy towards me by putting her ears right back and giving Sandy a little nib on the neck. Once Sandy got an idea she let me catch her. At first I was worried what Believa was going to do but she did nothing she just stood as if she was waving Sandy goodbye. I looked back be hide and she was gone. In that short time of meeting and seeing Believa I had fallen in love with her. I can understand why my dad did.
I meet Jet half way I felt safe having him close by. He was glad to see Sandy and I safe. I have never seen this kind of behaviour from Jet. He had a girlfriend for like a year anyway he was so happy when they were together till he found out the whole time they were together she was two timing him. He was awful for months it was like girls were the worst thing ever but he had changed and now I have seen a side of him that I like, he cared about me. Just like old times.
