Chapter 6: Coming home
We were about a 1km away from home when Sandy went silly leaving me on the ground. Jets horse went silly as well but he stayed on. When he helped me up we looked around to see what sent them off. You guessed it! Standing near a big yellow Wattle tree stood Believa. Jets voice was soft and told me to mount Sandy slowly. I understood why, she was dangerous in his eyes but in my eyes she was lonely and wanted to be loved. I told Jet its okay but yet I was so nervous I felt so sweaty all over I could even feel my lips getting sweaty. I walk ever so slowly but I felt like I had no time to turn back. I was walking towards the wildest horse she moved I stopped she turned and then I thought she was gone, surprise, surprise she came charging back Jet yelled 'MOVE!" but I just stood there and watch her move straight at me we didn't lose sight of each other looking at one another in the eyes, I was thinking of the pain when she comes, crushing me to the ground, with those grand legs of hers. I just look back and think of the sheer power that she used stop before I became part of the soil it was simply amazing. I understand now what she was doing to me I will tell you later on why.
When she stopped she took a huge breathe in and then snorted in my face. Jet didn't say anything but his face said it all "what the hell just happened?' I didn't know what to say because I didn't know myself. I put my hand up very slowly to touch her black cheek she still didn't move. What happened next was magic, when I touched her it felt like all our problems left and our connection would lead us to greatness.... "We can't take her" Jet said softly
"Bullshit!' I was angry and that reflected on Believa she got a bit aggressive towards Jet. Pouring at the ground, pushing her ears back. I just told her to settle and she did just that. Jet made Believa and I a proposition if she followed us home she could stay if my father agreed. I thought it was a fair deal. She walked right beside Sandy and I. Jet was leading the way and every now and then he would say "coming?" I would simply reply "yes".
When we were walking up the drive I didn't know if we could do the traditional trade mark at our farm. Which was if you had been out overnight you would do a lazy gallop up the 300m drive way. My grandfather and some of his mates got stuck moving a large herd of cattle the cattle made it to the farm but they didn't, well not for another three days, it's to remember one of his mates that passed away on the journey home. I thought it would be really cool with this huge black horse beside little Sandy galloping up the drive. Jet asked me if I wanted to and I replied I thought you were never gonna ask. Sandy and Jets horse looked cursing but Believer looked like a god's horse, like someone had spent hours training her. Sam was leading 2 of our broodmares to the yards, when he seen us his jaw hit the ground "don't ask" said Jet before Sam could even say anything. We slowed down to a nice trot, before my Father came out in disbelief. He had tears in his eyes. It was unique! The love he had for that horse was so true and pure. Believa didn't have the same reaction though. She stood tall in her alert potation, dad approached and she stepped back. I wanted to know why she went funny I had been the only one to touch her and she was acting like a human was a grizzling bear. "Well put her in the stable at the end till the vet checks her out" my dad was still trying to sounds tough, even though I know his heart was breaking on the inside.
Sam had so many questions but I couldn't answer them. I didn't know myself what had happened. I went for a walk that night. I just couldn't sleep I felt so guilty he loved that horse as much as he loved me. I almost jumped out of my skin when I saw a figure at the stables. The figure was talking to something I wanted a Better look. It was dad of course he was talking to Believa at the stables. She still didn't go near him. I didn't know what he was saying but I could imagine half of what he would say.
