Chapter 7: Great Blood

It was an awkward waking that day. A quick greeting and then he went to do some jobs before the vet come. The vet was only coming to make sure she was micro chipped and that she wasn't carrying any diseases that are harmful. The vet couldn't come sooner for dad, he wanted to know if that was Believa or not. She was all clear with any diseases. It's what happened next that was heartbreaking. It wasn't Believa. The vet just came right out and said it "I knew it wasn't her", dad said

"If it was she would have gave me a hug"

I love how he was still trying to be very brave and strong, forever free she shall be he said. I love that saying.

"I have something to say" said the vet trying to be cheerfully.

"The horse could have a blood test, checking its DNA and other bloodlines" said the vet

I thought that was a great idea. But dad was worry about the cost.

"You can have it free of charge just because you are great friends of mine" said the vet, not trying to create conflict between dad and I.

It had been a week and the blood test results were back. I was really excited just to know about her history and her age, just to have a few answers to the questions that have been running around my head for the past week.

I know dad was too he was getting a bit mad cause a couple of the horses aren't as fit as he thought so he had to change the order of training and with thecompetition less than five months I can understand why he is getting a bit frisky. The boys are trying so hard to keep dad happy, by training horses over time. Dad just spent over a $1000 on lights for the training yards out the back. Just so he can train at night some-times I don't even see him.

I felt like a little girl at Christmas when I saw the vets Ute pull up near the horse stables where Believa had been all week. I have fallen in love with her and I can feel that she feels the same way.

Well when the vet left I didn't know the feeling that was going through my body if I was happy, sad, and confused or relief. But I did feel just a bit sorry for dad. He would never have guessed what the vet was going to say. In a way I shouldn't feel bad but I just felt that if the identity was even discovered the horse would never be alone. The talent that was rushing though that horse's blood was intense. She was like the Undiscovered Phar Lap. No one knew how good he was. That was like this horse. Anyway I should tell you why she is the greatest even though no one has ever ridden her. The blood test show that she is the only daughter of Believa and the stallion was Reining Thunder! What a horse he was, just saying the name gives me goose bumps. I will tell you in a minute why. I will continue about the vet she was a 3 year old, and there was nothing in her blood that was bad. I just worked out now after writing this that my feeling was shocked. Her life was never going to be the same she was destined for greatness to shine above all others, to show the true meaning of freedom and Being as wild as the wind.

So you're still thinking why was "Reining Thunder" so great he was the best and greatest horse in Australia for endurance/cross - country. When he retired he lived an hour's drive from our place. So no surprise that Believa went for a little walk to find the best in Australia.

I was semi scared for why I didn't know what dad would do next he could do 1 or 2 things. 1. Set her free and pretend we never seen her or 2. Train her to get her in shape for the race. I was thinking well I just knew he would choose option 2. With the blood in her in wouldn't take long to make her fit.  It was the riding part that scared me. My father was the best rider I knew but this horse was very different.

Dad tried to ride her the next day after he had found out about her blood lines. He ended up in hospital to make it sort. He broke his leg in two places. He had too much of the green stick to be angry but I was scared what would happen when that wears off. He didn't want any one riding Blaze, that's what I named her she has this little Blaze just on her forehead it was hidden from me at first cause of her hair. I notice it when she was galloping in the yard. The boys like her name so we stuck with that. Well when dad came home he wasn't as mad as I thought he would be in fact he said he was silly to think she could be ridden so soon. He said after the comp he will put all his effort in training her. But for now he was stuck in his bed. One of the breaks was on his lower leg the other above his knee. So the boys were just doing most of the work while I did some too. It's what happened when I went to feed Blaze that my dad should be worried about...
