CHAPTER 35 - MARRIAGE

"You're Brooke, right? I remember you."

"Uh, yeah. What do you want?"

"I want to talk to you. Privately."

Early in the morning and this is how my ordinary day at school started. Honestly, I have no intention of involving myself with the likes of her. She's bad news and she acts like she can have all of the things that she desires without moving a muscle.

I sighed and irritatingly scratched my forehead, feeling annoyed just by seeing her mocking face up close. She's pretty. That's for sure. But she has to know that not everything can be solved through beauty alone.

"I don't think so. My first class will be starting soon and I hate to be late." I said and was about to take a step forward when she grabbed my arm and faced me. That took me by surprise.

"It will not take long. I just need to ask you something important." She said between gritted teeth.

I swear, I saw burning flames inside of her dark eyes. Is she mad about something that concerns me? What is it, then? I literally have no idea.

"You can ask now. I'll listen." I tried my best to remain calm. It's not my nature to start a fight. Keep your cool, Brooke.

She rolled her eyes and sighed heavily. "Okay, fine. Just meet me later at the entrance of the cafeteria. I'll be waiting."

Umiling ako. She finally removed her hand from my arm, and now it's my time to grab hers.

"We can talk about it now." I shot back emphasizing the word now. Marahas kong binitawan ang braso niya para malaman niyang seryoso ako sa sinasabi ko. Like I said, this person thinks she can get anything she wants. Well, I'm sorry to break it to her, but she's not gonna have her ways with me.

I'll be busy later because we'll be having a summative test in our first subject this afternoon. I already reviewed my notes at home but I still need to memorize some terms and sentences that can possibly be included in the exam.

She creased her perfectly shaped eyebrows while blinking her eyes. "Gosh. Sige na nga. Are you Aiden's new girlfriend?" My eyes widened because of her bluntness.

I can't believe she said that in a straight face. Ibang klase talaga ang babaeng 'to.

"No, I'm not." Tapat kong sagot. She checked my eyes— probably wondering if I'm going to look away after saying those words.

Why would I be guilty? And why would I lie? In the first place, I hated that guy. He has all of the traits that I loathed in a man. I only set that aside since he was the one who saved me when my life was in danger. I'm grateful to him and I always will be.

"Are you sure?" She asked again with her eyes squinting. Tumango ako at hindi na naiwasang mapairap.

"Yes. Got anything else to ask?" I wanted her to feel that I'm not interested in hearing her next question.

Why the hell did she asked me that ridiculous question? Do I look like a girl who digs bad boys? And I don't even consider him as someone who I see myself with in the first place. She needs to chill. If she's desperate enough to know Aiden's new girlfriend, then she should've asked him directly. Just because she once saw me and him talked before doesn't mean there's something going on between us. Nababaliw na yata siya.

I cleared my throat when she began to sniffed. Okay, she's now crying and I don't know what to do.

I watched her wipe the tears streaming down her cheeks. "I just couldn't believe we broke up. I still love him and I want him back." She sobbed.
