chapter 8

Hello hello

Andrew is supposed to come today and I honestly can't wait.

I also can't take my mind off it but I keep trying to stay concentrated in class, mason also noticed because he already asked me twice what was wrong and I'd tell him after class but he seemed worried.

As soon as we leave class, mason asks what's wrong,

"my older brother is coming today and I'm really anxious about it"
"why, shouldn't you be like, excited?"
I sigh

"well yh, but..., it's complicated somehow"
"how complicated? Tell moi"

I look at him, "don't worry about it"
"why not, talk to me. We have a free period now, let's talk about it hmm"

I turn to him, I really didn't want to disturb him with my issues at all but he didn't look like he'd be taking no for an answer so we walk up to the school field and sit.

"so what's up?"

"well, it's just that a lot has happened lately in my family and everyone has changed and its even like everyone is moving on from it and I'm just stuck and now Andrew is coming back after a long time and I'm scared that he will also have changed and then I would literally have no one to turn to anymore."

It would be just be.

"oh, I see. I'm also guessing Andrew is your older brother right?"

I nod.

"well, have you tried talking about it to any of your siblings, you know about all that has happened and how to try and move past it?"

"well, it's really not that easy mason and I don't even have any room to try. Everyone has grown so apart and it's a really painful situation that everyone wants to forget so quickly no matter what"

I had actually tried to talk about everything when it all started but everyone avoided it.

My mom had been to hurt, I really didn't have the courage to ask or walk up to her about it at all.

"I see, don't worry, we'll figure it out bit by bit, alright. Don't think too much on it"

"it's okay mason_"

"hmm hmm, no. it's my business because you're my best friend and I have to take care of you, okay."

"oh, mason. Thanks." 

"and, you can text me tonight about whatever that happens, alright."

I smile. I really didn't deserve such a friend or rather, best friend.

Earlier that morning when I first got to school, I saw Mira and I had told mason that I'd talk to her after school and now that that time was here, I really wanted to back out.

Mason wouldn't have that though. Sigh.

"look, she's right there"
"she's with people mason, I don't think I can do this. What if she snobs me or is really angry with me."

"come on Luke, she's a great person, she won't murder you either, just go"

He makes it sound like it's so easy, geez.

"okay, okay."

Mira was with her friends and that made me even more nervous to approach her.

But I have to, I don't have much of a choice.

So I walk up to them,

"hi Mira"

She turns around to see the source of the voice.

"oh, hey Luke"

She has a nice smile, that's for sure.

"um, excuse me guys, please wait for me at the gate"

"sure" one of her friends answer.

Oh, phew. That makes it much better.

"how have you been" she asks me.

"um, good. You?"
"fine, thanks. Is everything okay though"

Here goes nothing

"so uh, about the whole texting thing. I think I need to apologize."
"oh, well. I understand, I think I also came unto too strong and I'm also sorry about that." She smiles.

I really think she smiles a lot.

"no, its okay."

"yh, cool"

Now, I have nothing to say and the conversation can't end like this. Think Luke, think.

Awkward. Oh, boy.

"so um, is it okay to text you sometime? If you want though"
"yes, sure. That's alright"
"good, thanks. Uh, I have to go now, see you around?"
"yh" 

"okay, bye"

"bye"

I gently walk away before I will the ground to please swallow me up.

"ooooo, nice job."
I am internally still screaming.

"yes, whatever. Let's go"
mason laughs, he's most likely mocking me for how awkward I looked earlier.

Annoying friend.

That evening as I laid on my bed I thought Andrew would have been back when I got back from school but he wasn't and I literally guessed he wouldn't come today anymore but_

Knock knock

"come in please"

"hey, Luke"

Oh my

Andrew.
