Never Too Late

Chapter 6

I sat at the throne, jane by my side as Renesme ran around the room. She had a little area for all the toys the former kings and queens got her, mainly Caius but he wouldn't admit that.  She came over and jumped in Jane's lap who caught her effortlessly. "Hi mama, hi Jane. I'm hungry, can I have lunch?" Instantly when she says that one of the guards brings her food and us drinks, he sets up a table and chair for her. 

"Queen Jane, Queen Bella, you have visitors after lunch. Would you like me to take Princess Renesme out of the room?" I nod and thank him, he stands by the door watching guard. After Renesme was done he took her out of the room, once everything was cleaned up. After a few minutes in walked Tanya and her coven, I wasn't surprised they showed up, being close with the Cullen's but never breaking the law. "Ah, the Denali coven, I wondered when I would see you." They bowed their heads at us before Tanya cleared her throat. "We wanted to see who the new queens were, we're shocked to see Jane by your side and not Edward, Bella." Jane looked at me, I gave her a look telling her I would handle it. 

"Edward isn't my mate, he was lying to me and everyone else around us. He abused Renesme and me since I got with him and had her. Someone saw Renesme catch a snowflake and assume we had turned her, which is a lie, once the kings realized, Jane and I had mated. Edward was killed as punishment for what he did to Renesme and I, also for the false mate claim." They all looked at each other, not knowing what to say. "We're sorry to hear that Bella, we had no idea. We know you two will be amazing queens, come visit sometime, we'd love to catch up." They nodded at us and left, I looked back at Jane, and she smiled at me.

"Wanna go on a walk with me?" I nodded and we got up, she grabbed my hand softly and we walked out of the castle. I heard Renesme running behind us so we stopped and waited for her, she jumped on Jane's back. "Hi mom, hi Jane, where you guys going?" I kissed her head and smiled, "We're just going on a walk, would you like to come with us or find Rosalie?" She thought about it for a moment, before smiling. "I'd like to walk with you guys for a little and then go see Rosalie, it's been a while since I've seen her." Jane started walking, holding Renesme so she wouldn't fall off her back. I walked next to them, it was a silent walk, just looking at what was around us. 

Once Renesme was ready to get Rosalie, we headed back to the castle. For some reason, I had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach, once we walked in we were greeted by Felix. "Queen Bella, Jane, the Cullen's have shown up, they went to Renesme's old room looking for her. We were able to catch Esme, but the rest of them go away. They had more people with them this time, I've already sent our top guards to go look for them." I looked at Jane and she nodded, "I have to make a call, someone owes me a favor. With his help and his pack, the Cullen's will not be able to attack, they have a treaty with them. I want someone with Renesme at all times, no one leaves her alone no matter what." He nodded and left, Emmett and Rosalie came over and took Renesme. 

I went to our throne room and grabbed my phone, it rang a few times before connecting. "Hey Jake, I need your help." I explained what was going on, I heard him telling his pack they needed to leave. Once everything was done we hung up, I heard Jane come in and I looked at her. "We'll find them, I won't let them do anything to our daughter." I nodded and looked at her shocked, realizing what she said. She looked at me confused and walked over to me, resting her hands on my waist. "You just said 'our daughter'" She looked away embarrassed, I gently grabbed her chin and had her look at me. "I love that you see her as your daughter, she loves you, Jane. I know that you should too." She smiled and nodded, we sat down next to each other and held each other's hands. 

I don't know why they're so obsessed with taking her from me, but I won't let them get away with it. No matter what I have to do, they will not succeed.
