Never Too Late

Chapter 4

Bella's POV

Today was the day, it was the day we find out what was gonna happen to Edward. I wasn't prepared to see the Cullen's reaction, and I knew it would hurt Renesmee no matter what. We walked back into the king's room, the guards greeted us and when we walked in we saw the Cullens already there. Renesmee was sitting on a bench and ran over to me, I hugged her and smiled. "Mommy! I missed you, Auntie Rosey said I'd get to see you today." I picked her up and she laid her head on my shoulder, "See, Auntie Rosey never lies. How about after this, you hang out with me and Jane all day? Ok? I'll make sure we get you some food for lunch too, even if I have to use the puppy eyes on Jane." Renesmee started giggling loudly and nodded, I smiled and looked at Jane.

She was smiling at me and Renesmee, after a few minutes Edward was brought in by the guards. Renesmee refused to look at him, just hiding in my neck. I held her closer and looked at him, he looked at me and glared at Jane. Jane looked at him and smirked, before pulling me close to her. Renesmee looked at Jane and smiled at her, Jane smiled back. Renesmee slowly reached her hand out and started playing with a necklace Jane was wearing, Jane put her hands out asking to hold her. I looked at Renesmee and she nodded, I handed Renesmee to Jane and laughed quietly since Renesmee was just less than half her size.

Jane playfully glared at me as Aro stood up, we all looked at him and he clasped his hands together. "Today we are here to determine the punishment, of Edward Cullen. As you all know, he broke a law. He not only took months to turn Bella but also made a false mate claim. We take mate claims very seriously, and to see such a horrible man make a false mate claim on not only our Jane but thinking Bella is owned by him is not acceptable. The punishment that we kings and queens have decided on is to be starved very slowly. Then once that is done, he will have one more feast before he is killed by slowly ripping limb by limb off and burning them one after another. If you do not agree to those terms, you may see yourself out. Please say your goodbyes, Bella, if you'd like to let the princess say goodbye to her father you may. But no touching, it's for your safety." I looked at the Cullens, everyone but Rosalie and Emmett seemed upset at the news.

I looked at Renesmee and she shook her head, not wanting to leave Janes's arms but also to see him. I nodded and kissed her head, I looked at Edward and he was trying to get to us, I looked at the guards with a begging look not to let him over here. They held him even tighter, moving him farther from us. Carlisle went over to him and hugged him, and so did the others. Rosalie just walked past him and over to us, Emmett following her. She looked at Jane and Renesmee, "If you ever hurt them, I will personally rip you apart and burn you." Jane nodded and looked at me, I laughed quietly and hugged Rosalie. She hugged me back and rubbed my back, I felt another pair of arms and we were both lifted. I squealed and heard Emmett's loud laugh, we were set down and I punched him in the shoulder.

"Don't do that! You're crazy Emmett, you're lucky I love you." He smiled and hugged me, I hugged him back. We pulled away and I looked over to see Edward about to leave, I felt Jane put her hand on my cheek. I looked at her and she had handed Rensemee to Emmett, I smiled at her and she smiled back. I looked at her lips and back at her eyes, she did the same and we both heard Rosalie whisper 'Just kiss', I giggled and kissed her softly. I felt Jane smile widely and kiss back, and we heard rustling and groaning. We pulled away and saw Edward getting out of the guard's grip, before he could run to us he was on his knees groaning in pain.

The guards grabbed him and pulled him out of the room, she looked at me and sighed. I pecked her lips and smiled sadly, she grabbed my hands and intertwined our fingers. I took Renesmee back as I held Jane's hand, we walked out of the room and headed outside to the back of the castle. Jane took us to where there was a large tree that was by a swing set, I looked at her confused wondering why there would be a swing set. She looked away shyly and mumbled something. I had heard it but I knew Renesmee most likely didn't. "What did you say?" She looked back at me and then Renesmee, "I got it built for her today, when you were getting dressed I got ahold of one of the guards to talk to the kings about it. They agreed since you two are now family, you will get whatever you want no matter what. They look at me as their daughter, so having you now means you are also theirs." We smiled and I set Renesmee down, she hugged Jane tightly before running off to go play.

I pulled Jane close and kissed her, she kissed back and wrapped her arms around my waist. I smiled in the kiss and giggled when I felt her hand slowly trail down my back, we slowly pulled away even though we could have kissed for hours. I looked over and saw Renesmee playing, I went over and sat on one of the swings. Jane went over and I pulled her into my lap, I slowly swung and just held her while Renesmee played. I smiled and watched them both, Renesmee jumped off the swing from high up. I felt Jane tense up, Renesmee landed on her feet and Jane relaxed. Jane got up and Renesmee ran to her, Jane threw her up in the air and caught her. Renesmee laughed loudly and Jane did it again, throwing her up even higher.

I watched as they played together, after about an hour one of the guards came out with food for Renesmee. He handed it to her and left, Renesmee sat on the ground and started eating. Jane came over to me and leaned down, kissing me, I kissed her back and hummed. We kept kissing until we heard a gagging noise, we pulled away and looked at Renesmee. She had a joking disgusted look on her face, we laughed and Jane went back over to her. Jane sat down next to her, kissing her head and bumping her shoulder against hers.

After Renesmee was done eating they started playing again, once the sun was going down we decided to go back in. We went to where Renesmee's room was, it was right next to ours, well Jane's but it was where I was now staying. We took her inside and I grabbed some of her clothes, I handed them to her and she went into the bathroom to get dressed. I got her bed ready for her and Jane grabbed a bedtime story, once Renesmee came out she got into bed. Jane sat down in a chair that was sitting by the bed, she started reading the book and Renesmee closed her eyes. After reading the story Renesmee fell asleep, I kissed her head and whispered a 'goodnight'. Jane kissed her head and put the book back, Jane and I left the room and headed to ours.

I got out my clothes and changed, I didn't feel the need to go to a separate room since I knew Jane respected my privacy. I turned around and saw Jane also dressed, I noticed she was wearing one of my shirts and I smiled. She came over to me and pulled me close by my waist, I wrapped my arms around her neck. She kissed me softly, I kissed her back and she slowly walked me backward. I felt the back of my knees hit the bed and I sat down, Jane pushed me down so I was laying down. I pulled away from the kiss and she straddled me, I pulled her back down for a kiss. I held her hands as we kissed, smiling into the kiss.

After a few minutes we pulled away, I smiled at her and she smiled back. She got off me and we laid on the pillows, we held each other's hands as we laid down. "Today was fun, I liked that we got to hang out with Renesmee, she's a great kid." I smiled and kissed her cheek, "She loves you already, you will be a great mother." She smiled widely and hid in my neck, I pulled her close to me and hummed. We just held each other as we talked, sharing kisses every once in a while.
