Chapter 9

"F-Father"

All the teens copied the gecko's action and turned to look at the newcomer, realizing that it was a canine yokai, wearing a formal and elegant suit. He looked strangely calm, walking at a moderate speed, while his dark, serious eyes looked directly at the jet-haired boy.

"Well, Jason... I was really surprised when I heard that you tried to sabotage our task"

The turtles only looked with confusion at the man in front of them, then turned their eyes to the boy named, finding him totally petrified in his place.

"I am truly disappointed by your insolence in disobeying my very clear orders, and by your unsuccessful service to the clan" the Dingo declared, while frowning in disagreement.

The teenager was hurt by the words the yokai, whom he believed to be his father, was saying.

He had always wanted to be congratulated by the yokai, even once in his life. But now he was standing in front of him, saying that he was a great disappointment, both as a clan member and as a son.

His world was crumbling in front of his eyes.

Mikey noticed the pain his friend was feeling, as he only lowered his gaze in shame and sadness. He knew how important it was for him to be appreciated by his father, as he had confessed this to him in their private conversations.

The tortoise wished he could comfort the boy at this hard time for him, but the horrible dog chain still continued to bind him to his former prison, and it was impossible for him to get close.

The elegant wolf turned his gaze from the gecko to the leader of the turtle team, who only looked at him with confusion as he did not know who this peculiar yokai was.

"You must be young Leonardo" said the adult, and then proceeded to give a bow of respect and greeting, leaving the turtles bewildered.

"My name is Jei Hisashi, but you can call me just Jei.... It's a pleasure to finally meet you in person, Mr. Hamato"

The three turtles looked with confusion at the man introducing himself to them, since they had never seen him before in their lives.

"Hey, do you even know that wolf? He even knows your name" asked the one in purple, whispering in his twin brother's ear.

"How do you think? It's the first time I've seen him" replied the swordsman in the same tone.

"Well... You must excuse me that the way of bringing you to this place was not very pleasant for you, but I knew that you would not attend a meeting with an invitation from a stranger... Only a fool would do that" he said and then let out a light laugh, which left everyone present confused as they could not find the humor in it. The older man noticed this, so he proceeded to clear his throat slightly to continue.

"Anyway... I'm sure you're thinking "I've never seen this man before in my life" and let me tell you, you're right. But what you don't know is that I saw you in a fight in the, for the moment extinct, Nexus"

Leo just stared confused at the man in front of him, while the older man took out and lit a cigarette in his mouth, as if he had all the time in the world.

"Let me tell you, it was a splendid battle" He blew some of the dark smoke from the burning tobacco, then looked at the boy with a smile "From the moment I saw you fighting that Kraken and your confrontation with that demonic creature, I knew you were the right one to join my clan as a sidekick" he said.

Everyone was silent at that revelation.

"Emm... What did you say?" Leonardo asked with total confusion. He hadn't expected him to be someone relevant to the wolf.
