August 23

You sit under the old oak tree reading a book, just like you did growing up. A warm breeze rushes through the leaves, causing the wildflowers and lush grass around you to sway in the summer's gentle wind.

Everything seemed to have come to a full loop.

You had given birth to your daughter, Lily, almost a month ago on the 4th of August. You got the idea for the name after you were watering your lillies one day in the early spring after you had picked the first harvest of vegetables for the season from your garden.

Your daughter was sleeping in the attic upstairs, which you painted light pink, while Kurapika was inside cooking lunch for the two of you. You were glad that you were able to finally live this life.

You had gotten a sudden memory, one from long, long ago. You remembered... that you wouldn't sleep your fears away growing up... but you'd go outside, and read under the old oak tree. It was now easy to imagine your younger self sitting in the exact spot you sat at years and years ago.

You felt that when you read, you were free and were able to escape into a world of your own. And that was the greatest comfort you had growing up.

You found that your new life of being a mother was one exhausting yet fulfilling for the most part. You had never thought of motherhood to be the life that you would have ultimately taken... but you're glad you did. You knew your own mother would be so proud of you.

And like her words said, you'll never take a single second for granted.

Your hand skims the grass as you hold your book in the other, your back resting against the sturdy tree. You were quite tired these days, but thanks to the help of Kurapika, you were able to relax outside all day, and you found this to be your greatest comfort. You had grown so much in the past two years... you'd be unable to recognize yourself now.

Just almost 2 years ago, if you had told yourself then that you'd marry the blonde you met at the bar that fateful night and have kids, you would've laughed. You thought it was just fun and games, just plastic love. But,

You're glad that you chased and finally got your happy ending.
