The paramedics had arrived and wheeled Sam off on a gurney, Lana and Danny watched them and Deena walked up to them but before any of them could speak Sheriff Goode walked up to them and he stared at the Fier twins, "Can we help you?" Lana asked as the two glared at him.
Sheriff Goode cleared his throat and looked at his notes, "Deena Johnson?" Sheriff Goode asked.
"Yeah, two e's," Deena told him.
"And Lana and Danny Fier?" The sheriff looked at the Fier twins, "Short for anything?" Sheriff Goode asked as he looked at Danny.
"No, sir," Danny said as he gritted his teeth.
"Okay," Sheriff Goode said as he kept glancing between them.
"What?!" Lana snapped.
"I just... You look just like your mother..." Lana rolled her eyes, "Her tempter too," Sheriff Goode said and Deena looked at Lana.
"Wow, really nice to know, but newsflash, I don't care who you knew," Lana said.
Danny placed his arm around Lana and pulled her into him as she grunted in slight anger, "Ignore her... It's been a... Rough night... She's..." Danny glanced at Deena who looked confused and he looked back at the sheriff, "Testy..." He chuckled slightly as his sister glared at him, "Shall we get on with this?" Danny asked.
"Just like your uncle..." Danny tensed up, "My condolences for them both... How's your aunt?" Sheriff Goode asked.
"Good, thanks," Danny said as he held Lana still.
The sheriff cleared his throat and looked at the three teenagers, "So... Wanna tell me what happened here?" Sheriff Goode asked.
"The car crashed," Deena said.
"Was it pursuing you?" Sheriff Goode asked.
Lana looked at him, "Well, it was driving behind the bus. Does that count as pursuing?" Lana questioned.
"The driver said that before the crash someone opened the emergency exit," Sheriff Goode told them.
"I don't remember that," Deena said.
"Me neither," Lana said.
"No one was near that door, sheriff," Danny said.
"No?" The sheriff looked at Deena, "He also saw you with the cooler," Sheriff Goode said.
"Did anyone else see that?" Deena asked.
"Maybe you were just, um... Goofing around. Things got out of hand. Why don't you three just tell me what happened?" Sheriff Goode said.
"We're Shadysider's, Goode," He looked at Lana, "We not as... Wealthy as you Sunnyvaler's, our bus needs work. We keep the cooler near the emergency exit so the newbie band, cheer, and footballers don't go near it... It's possible it just opened up on its own and the cooler fell... I mean, it wouldn't be the first time it opened without anyone touching it... I mean, we are the rejects... Right?" Lana said and the two twins high-fived behind Danny's back.
"Is that what happened?" Sheriff Goode asked and asked everyone the same question, repeating Lana's words to them.
"Sometimes accidents just happen," Kate said.
"We lost control, sir," Peter said.
"It's a freak accident," The Sunnyvale footballer said.
"Suck it, pig," Simon said.
"As I said, sheriff, it was just an accident... I can show you the door and where it needs repair if you need something more concrete," Lana said.
"No need... Well, if you three think of anything, give me a call," Sheriff Goode handed them his number, "I'm on your side," Sheriff Goode said.
