The bus of Shadyside High Schoolers entered Sunnyvale, passing their town's sign that read:

Welcome To The Town of Sunnyvale
Est. 1666

Lana and Danny stared at the sign as they went past, "Feeling okay?" Danny asked.

"Never better..." Lana said.

The Shadyside high schoolers arrived at the Sunnyvale High School Stadium, and the two sets of students all stood together as the mayor of Sunnyvale, Will Goode. Lana and Danny stood with Kate, Simon and Deena, "This isn't how I wanted to be here tonight. I wanted to be here as a fan. Our Sunnyvale Devils and your Shadyside Witches throwing down some good old American Football," Mayor Goode said.

"Hypocrite," Danny whispered and Lana nudged him slightly.

"Instead, I find myself here as a husband, a father and a neighbour. And yes, Mayor of Sunnyvale," Deena scanned the Sunnyvale crowd, "And on behalf of all the people in my town, I say all of Sunnyvale mourns with you," Mayor Goode said.

Kate scoffed, "Yeah, really looks like they give a damn," Lana commented.

"The only Sunnyvalers who came were the ones who had to. The football team and the cheerleaders," Kate said.

"Only time I hate cheerleading," Lana said.

"You and me both," Kate said.

Deena spotted a Sunnyvale cheerleader, Sam, her ex-girlfriend and watched as a Sunnyvale football player draped his arm around her. Deena's eyes glistened and she walked away both Danny and Lana noticed.

"Want me to go?" Danny whispered.

"Nah, I got this," Lana whispered and she followed after Deena.

Deena found her way into a nearby walkway, she dropped her band hat on the ground and sat down, she opened the shoebox that held all of Sam's things and pulled out a cassette tape and on the liner card, it read Dear Sam.

Deena breathed heavily as she pocketed the cassette and started to play with a lighter as Lana walked up, "Well, if that isn't a recipe for disaster, I don't know what is," Lana crouched down beside Deena, "You doing okay?" Lana asked

"You're asking me?" Lana nodded, "You're the one that lost your girlfriend... You okay?" Deena asked.

"We never were a couple... Just a lot of fun, but yeah... I'm okay," Lana smiled a little at her, "And you will be too... I saw Sam," Lana said.

"Don't worry about me," Deena said.

"Well, I do... Even more so when you have a lighter in your hand... I don't think setting this place on fire will make you feel any better. Well, it might for like five minutes and then you'll feel like shit again, trust me... I know more about that than anyone else," Lana said.
