*Sophia*

I took a bath immediately I came back, all I just felt like doing was to eat and then go to bed early. I patted my body with a clean towel, after that, I oiled my skin and put on a perfume and then I put on a purple pajamas and I was about to close the wardrobe when the door opened. I turned to see a fuming Mrs. Akindele, this made me confused.

"Good evening ma... " I was saying and she cut me off,

"And what is good about the evening? Why are you just coming by this time when school hours are long over? Do you realise that you are a married woman? What kind of a behaviour is this for God's sake?" she asked all in one go and I simply remove a strand of my hair from my face.

"I'm talking to you young lady... "

"And I heard you perfectly, I just decided not to answer" I said confidently and she became stunned. Clapped her hands historically, "Look ma'am, I decided to stay back and study for a while, and also the traffic was terrible on my way back" I said and looked away.

"Do you expect me to believe what you just said? This is not the first time you are doing this, so it is very obvious that you are lying. Come I hope you are not cheating on my son?" she asked making me jerk my head towards her direction. I noticed that everyone was partially in my room now, this isn't going to end well.

"Excuse me ma'am, I'm not that petty, I have class, and I'm better than that. Instead I think I should be the one thinking that way about your son, after all he hasn't been home for like what? Four days!" I said the last part with anger,

"How dare you Sophie?" Becky scolded, while walking towards me. "How dare you talk to my mother like that?... " she was saying but I cut her off

"No, how dare you think that you can come into my room and talk to me rudely? Your mother has no right to question my character, absolutely no right. Because there are times that you girls go out late but nobody says anything" I said angrily,

"Wait oh, na me you dey follow talk? Forget that you are married to my brother oh, we ain't age mate at all!" she said aggressively and Angel came forward to hold her back, "Babe leave me, make I put this girl for her place, who you be? How old are you sef?" she yelled making me roll my eyes at her.

"That's enough Becky, get a hold of yourself" Aunt Shola said, Mrs. Akindele hissed and stormed out of the room, followed by Becky. I took a deep sigh and sat on the bed, I don't think I can go on like this.

"Sophie, you need to learn to behave yourself, and stop talking to your mother in law rudely, it's bad" Aunt Shola said and I remained quiet, Angel sat beside me.

"What was my fault here? I'm actually trying my best not to make her hate me but I don't think it's working. I took Lillian's advice and did what she asked of me but I don't think it worked, what else does your mum wants from me? It's obvious that she will never like me" I said the last part to Angel and she patted my back, Aunt Shola replied,

"Don't see it that way Sophie, I know that these few days, she has really been impressed by you. You just have to keep up the good work and stop bickering with her, it's not nice" she said and I breathed out deeply.

"I'll do my best" I said and she smiled

"That's good, I'll leave you two now" she said and then she left.

"I'm sorry about all these Sophie, just like what I said before I can't live with my in laws oh, lai lai" Angel said, making me chuckled.

"Oh please Angel, it's not that bad, it's just that here in Nigeria it's quite different and frustrating"
