I woke up to wooden rafters. I laid confused for a few seconds, until I remembered where I was. I turned my head toward the nightstand where I heard a song playing. I smiled at the lyrics and who was singing them. I shuddered in horror at what would happen if they ever found out. My boyfriend and his band have a big enough ego without knowing that I shuffle their songs as my alarm ringtones.

I texted the usual people I text when I wake up, my boyfriend, my mom, and Hailey. We talked for about half an hour before I decided it was time for me to get up. I got ready for the day. I put on a white hoodie with mesh sleeves, since it is summer and its hot.

I paired that with light wash jeans with tears at the knees and white boots (the same in the character introductions chapter)

I put my hair up in a messy half up half down bun, and added three small braids in random spots. After that, I sprayed some of that temporary dye stuff on my tips, a baby blue.

I prefer using temporary spray than actually dying my hair, that way I can change it up and experiment with other colors more often

After getting ready, I grabbed put my phone and wallet, putting them in my small crossbody and went outside. "Good morning, Jenna!" I smiled at the blonde.

She turned around and smiled back at me. "Hey, good morning, Kayla! Did you sleep well?"

"I slept great thanks! When will I be able to start riding?" I asked. Jenna frowned for a moment before answering. "Well, Mr. Moorland usually likes to train the new campers himself, but he's dealing with some... issues right now,"

"Is everything ok? Is there someway I can help?"

"No, there's this horrible company called G.E.D, basically they want to shut down the stables. I'm sorry, I shouldn't be burdening you with all of this. We will find a way to fix it," she said while I gave her a hesitant look. "Why don't we go over to the stables, I'll teach you the basics of taking care of your horse and how to properly put on the tack. After that we can start riding."

"Yay, sounds good!" I exclaimed with a big smile.

We spent about half an hour, going over how to take care of Ministar and bonding with her, after which we rode for a bit.

"Wow, Kayla! You're a natural!" Jenna said as we slowed our horses down to a trot. It was around 2 or 3 in the afternoon, and we had just come back to the stables. "It takes most girls days to be able to ride at a gallop, yet you did it in a couple of hours."

"Thanks! It felt great!"

Once we had gotten back to the paddock, we started training on some simple jumps.

"The key to jumping is timing and speed," she explained. "You want to make sure you're going fast enough, at least a canter. You want to make sure to command the jump at the right moment too, if not, you can either come up short, or not have enough distance between your horse and the obstacle to jump."

After practicing that for a bit, we got some lunch and I went back to my room. After a couple hours, I thought it would be nice to take a sunset ride with Ministar. I had proved to be a pretty good rider, so Jenna gave me the green light to ride around and explore. I noticed Ministar looked a bit uncomfortable with the saddle, so I decided I would ask Jenna to teach me how to ride bareback tomorrow.

As I made my way back, a girl on a white horse waved me over. Ugh, it's ugly pink grandma sweater girl. "You must be the new stable girl." I opened my mouth to answer, but she started talking before I could, "I'm Loretta, the best rider in Jorvik, and co-leader of the bobcats, the most elite riding club on the island."

"Nice." I deadpanned at her, already tired of her bragging.

"Jenna said that because you're 'such a good rider'", she said, making quotes with her fingers, "I have to let you try out our track, so I guess I have no choice. I seriously doubt you'll be any good. Pft, I'll even bet you named your horse Puffyheart or some dumb name like that." I just stared at her with a deadpan expression on my face. God, this girl is so monotonous.

"Me and the girls set up a basic course in the paddock behind us. All you have to do is pass through the flags. Don't worry, it's very easy. We made it specifically for beginners," she said with a smirk, putting emphasis on beginners. If this girl thinks I'm going to let her indirect remarks get to me, she has another thing coming.

"Alright pink sweater girl, gonna count me down or what?" I replied with a smirk. I could basically see the smoke coming out of her ears, opening her mouth, to yell at me presumably. A brunette came up and beat her to speaking though, counting me down.

I rode in a circle around the track, racing through all the flags til I got back to the beginning, finishing in under 15 seconds. Several girls that were standing around the paddock, now turned to look at me, a lot of them with their jaws slack.

"Tha- that was incredible Kayla." Loretta was a loss for words. After staring in shock for a couple of seconds, she added, "It seemed as if I may have misjudged you... you obviously have a hidden talent in riding." I stared at her for a few seconds, kinda surprised that she was capable of saying something so nice, before muttering a quick 'thanks' with a smile.

"Of course, don't think this means you'll be part of our club. We only accept the best riders, and you still have much to improve on." Ah, there's the rude remark this conversation was missing. Well, at least she didn't call me a beginner again.

"Don't worry, I didn't. I'm gonna go on a ride with Ministar, but it was nice meeting you!"

"Nice to meet you too!" she replied with a smile and a wave as I trotted off.

"Hey, Kayla," the same brunette from earlier waved me down. "Now I see why everyone's been talking about you! I'm Tatijana, the other leader of the Bobcats, but you can call me Tan. I just wanted to apologize for Loretta's rude behavior, she tends to be a little, intense, with the new riders, but she means well."

"That's ok, I completely understand," I smiled at her.

"I also wanted to say that was some really impressive racing, especially from someone who hasn't ridden before. I know you said you wanted to go on a ride with Ministar, so I'll keep it short, but if you want to come by tomorrow, we also have a cross-country course that I think you'll do great on!"

"Ooh, sounds fun! I'll definitely come back. Thanks for telling me! It was so nice to meet you!"

After a very calming ride with Ministar, I went back to the stables, settled her in for the night, and got ready for bed myself, excited to see what tomorrow would bring.

A/N, i feel horrible with this one, but theres not much you can do with the first five min of gameplay. i wanted to make it as realistic as possible and i also wanna have long chapters, so yea, trying my best, hopefully the next ones will be better.

quick disclaimer, i have absolutely nothing against the color pink or sweaters, i love them in fact, i also think the bobcats outfit is cute, i just wanted to add a bit to my character's personality xd

Love ya guys <3
