Background info:
——————-
Sophie and Keefe are dating. To distract Sophie from all her Neverseen problems, Keefe decides to take her to the forbidden cities.
————————------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"We are soo going to get in trouble for this." Sophie complained as she stood on the trash littered streets of the Forbidden cities.  "Why did I ever let you talk me into this.

Keefe smirked. "we both know you secretly wanted to. It wasn't hard to persuade you. No one can resist this."

He ran a hand through his hair, somehow making it look better. She blushed against her will.

While Sophie was trying to draw the least amount of attention to herself, slouching and hiding behind her curtain of hair, Keefe was doing the opposite. Gaggles of teenage girls oogled at him as they passed. He winked and ruffled his hair even more, causing them to giggle and fall all over themselves, batting their eyelashes, and twirling their hair. Disgusting.

Sophie felt jealousy course though her veins, overtaking her senses, followed by anger. She wanted to smack those girls right across their faces. One of them, probably the leader, broke off and began to walk towards the two of them. Sophie glared, and was just about ready to punch her, when Keefe, probably sensing her emotions, grabbed her hand gently and dragged her away. He led her into a deserted alley, and peered at her, amused.

"Is that jealousy I feel Foster," He said playfully.

Sophie huffed and crossed her arms. "No. Why would I be jealous."

He chuckled, then grabbed her waist and pulled her into a kiss, breaking apart only after he knew he'd tuned her into a lightheaded, breathless mess.

He bent down and whispered, "None of those girls can compare to you Foster. Trust me."

Sophie felt much better, and Keefe knew.

Smirking, he led her back out into the brightly lit street. Nudging her arm, he asked. "Isn't there anything you want to do?"

Sophie scanned the shops, packed tightly together, most of them crooked and leaning. Nothing interested her, until she saw a lavender purple shop, with bright, flashing letters that said: Hair Salon- Open.

"That one," she said, pointing towards the shop.

Keefe squinted. "Haircut salon.. why?"

'Well, in the Lost Cities, people usually use elixirs to change their hair. I haven't had a human haircut in ages. I just want to try."

He nodded. "Ok, well you go get your haircut, and i'll get us ice cream."

Sophie nodded, even though she didn't really want to leave him alone. There were too many crazy girls around. But she trusted that Keefe would keep his word, and crossed the street to enter the salon.

The bell jingled as the walked in. She was met with the sent of shampoo and hairspray. A young lady walked up to her.

"What's you're name honey?" She asked kindly.

"Sophie."

"Well Sophie, you can come right this way. I'll be over in a minute"

She led her to an empty chair, and Sophie stared her her reflection in the mirror. Her current hair was long and wavy, reaching down to her waist. It had been like that for as long as she could remember.

The lady came over.

"Alright,' She said, clapping har hands together. "You have beautiful hair! What would you like to do today?"

Sophie was about to say 'Just a trim,' but then she looked back in the mirror. What was the point of "just a trim?" She wasn't going to come back to the Forbidden Cities for a while. Might as well try something new. Worst case scenario, she would use an elixir to fix it when she got back.

"Uh, I wanted to try something new. Something completely different from what I have now. Something unique. Surprise me?"

The lady smiled. "My pleasure."

She got to work, first washing her hair and then blow drying it. It took a while, considering how long it was. Then, she took her scissors and began to cut. Sophie held back a cringe as she watched her beautiful locks fall to the ground.

Once the cut was done, she picked up all sorts of irons, sprays, clips and brushes. She winced as the lady (Her name was Janice) pulled her hair in all separate directions.

Finally it was done. She swiveled around in the chair to look at her reflection, bracing herself for the worst.

She gasped. He hair had been cut so it fell a few inches below her shoulders. It was straightened, with layers framing her face, going from short to long. But the best part was the tips. They were dyed an alternating pattern of bubble gum pink and lavender purple. She looked amazing.

"Wow! This is awesome. Thank you so much!" She gushed

"I agree! You look great!"

She thanked her again, paid, and was about to walk out when Janice spoke again.

"why do you walk like that.."

"Like what?" Sophie asked, confused

"Kind of.. Hunched over.. with your hair covering your face."

"Oh," Sophie said, cheeks coloring. "I guess I'm not very confident.."

"You should be! You look amazing. You just have to sell the part."

Janice walked over and straightened Sophie's shoulders. She lifted her chin. "There. You look fierce."

Sophie examined herself in the mirror. She did look pretty good... "Thanks. I needed that."

Janice patted her on the back. "No problem kid. Now go, have fun"

Sophie smiled, and exited the store, walking just as she had been instructed. Keefe was waiting for her. His jaw dropped. Sophie suddenly felt nervous. "Is it ok?"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Keefe sat on a bench, trying to ignore the girl attempting to flirt with him, waiting for Foster, ice cream in his hand. The door swung open, and his jaw dropped. Wow.

For starters, her hair was amazing. It fell delicately over her shoulders. Now that it was so short, it only accented her features, making her look more beautiful than she already was.

But the biggest change was how she carried herself, confident and proud. She wasn't hiding behind her hair anymore.

Keefe was so caught up in staring at her, that he almost missed her question. "it it ok?" She was nervous now, waiting for his approval.

Keefe was shocked. That question was a no-brainer. "Of course it looks ok. Foster, you look amazing!"

And apparently, he wasn't the only one who thought so. His eye flicked to the side where a group of teenage boys were not so subtly checking her out. They were whispering and pointing. Keefe didn't like the way they were smirking. Now it was his turn to feel jealous. For the second time that day, he grabbed her hand and led her into a deserted alley, ice cream forgotten.

He hoped that Foster wouldn't notice his envy, but of course, the one time he wanted her to be oblivious, she wasn't.

"Who's jealous now?" she teased.

Keefe rolled his eyes. "whatever, he muttered, before pulling her onto her tip toes and into a kiss. He wasn't going to let those boys get within fifteen feet of her.

Pulling away, he smirked, muttering, "by the way, you look hot"

He never got tired of seeing her face flush red.
