Dream woke up to the feeling of falling. His eyes shot open and he realized he was plummeting to the ground, he had tipped the Ferris wheel cart and was falling to his death. He quickly gained his composure and floated himself to land safely on the ground. 'Shit was time is it?' He thought to himself. He didn't have his phone but he was certain he was going to be running late to his interview. He felt himself starting to panic. What was he going to do? He really needed this job. 'Oh duh, I can slow time.' He slowed time until it was almost stopped and raced home as quickly as possible. When he got to the bush that held his clothes from the previous night, he quickly slipped them on and slipped inside the apartment. He didn't have time to say anything to Nick, he quickly changed into his suit and grabbed his phone from the charger to check the time. Shit, it was already 8:50. He raced as quickly as possible to the office and made it there by 8:51. He didn't know what people did who didn't have the ability to slow time, he would have been late for everything.
He walked to the front desk after regaining his composure and flattening his suit jacket with his hands. "Hi, my name is Clay. I'm here for an interview," he said with as much confidence as he could possibly muster.
"Okay, George is in a meeting right now. Please have a seat," she said and pointed to the waiting area. Clay nodded and took a seat.
He pulled his phone out and text Nick quickly, "Hey sorry I was running late this morning, didn't have time to say goodbye."
He got a text back pretty quickly, "You're fine. I didn't even hear you come in last night?"
'Yeah that's because I didn't.' Clay could hear a faint buzzing noice from the water cooler. It was really bothering him and making his nerves worse than they already were. He also was way too aware of the loud sound of the clock ticking away each second like the sound of a metronome. Was he sweating or was that just in his head? His heart was pounding in his chest. Crap, had he forgotten to put his suit away? Maybe he should rush home and do that? He had a little bit of time left before his interview. He could slow time and they'd never even notice he was gone. But it was really unlikely that Nick would walk into his room, so he wouldn't see it anyways. Maybe he should speed time up to end his wait, but he tried not to use his powers for situations like this. This morning had been different, it was urgent that he make it to his interview on time. But he couldn't just speed up time because he was uncomfortable.
"Clay?" He heard a voice break through his thoughts. He looked up and saw a man who Clay thought had to be an angel. He was beautiful. He just sat staring at him for way longer than he should have. "Clay?" He repeated.
"Oh, hi, I'm Clay," he stood and shook the man's hand. God he hoped his hands weren't as sweaty as they felt.
"I'm George," the man said. "Let's go to my office." This was George? God, he was already making himself look like a total idiot. He followed him down the hallway that led to his office. Each step he took felt wobbly and like he was about to fall. Dream may have been a superhero, but Clay was a normal, sweaty, nervous guy who was fumbling an extremely important interview.
George turned the nob to the door at the end of the hall. His office was made of glass, but it was odd, you couldn't see through it. It was too thick and it had a pattern that almost seemed like the glass was swirling. The door was lined with a thick grey metal separating it from the rest of the glass walls. George swung the door open to reveal one of the neatest offices Clay had seen. He had a shelf on the back well that held plaques George must have earned. His desk was some sort of dark wood and it was almost completely empty except for his computer, keyboard, mouse and mouse pad. Where was the personality?
The chair that Clay sat in had light grey legs that were slightly slanted, so that the chair corrected your posture, and had black cushions. Clay took a seat and took a deep breath. George sat down in the spinny chair across the desk. He folded his hands together and placed them on the desk in front of him. "Tell me about yourself Clay," he said with a smile.
