"Everyone back in your dorms for curfew."
The Headmistress spoke through the intercom."We have a curfew?" I sighed, before putting my books away and sat up off a bench outside of the school. "It's only 9pm."
"It sucks doesn't it?"
"Yeah- Wait, who said that?"
"Me, silly." Yeojeong sped up to walk beside me.
"Oh."
"Usually no one really goes to bed. We just hang out in our dorm rooms. Second g-side tip you'll learn from me. Bed check is at ten so either pretend to be asleep or actually go to bed." Yeojeong hit my arm as she ran inside the doors. "Come on!!"
"Wait, Yeojeong!" I ran into the main hall doors as fast I could to catch up with Yeojeong.
I ran faster and got into the elevator just in time.
"Third tip. This school is big. You have to be fast to get to each class because some classes are spaced out. Got it?"
I rested my hands on my knees to catch my breath.
"Ahuh."
...
"Shh! There will be bed checks any minute."
"Okay." I whispered, covering myself up with the blanket.
The door creaked making me shut my eyes tightly.
"Everyone's asleep in here, Headmistress Bae."
"Thank you, Ms.Ji."
The door shut and we didn't move until we heard their footsteps get quieter.
"Okay, I think they're off our floor." Yeojeong said turning on the lights
I got up removing my blankets kind of getting blinded by the light. I sat up on my bed watching Yeojeong close the bathroom door.
"Can I do your hair?" She smiled as she held up a tub of hair stuff.
"Uh, I don't really like anyone touching my hair."
"Come on please just two Dutch braids. I promise they'll look good! It won't take long! Eunju please!!" She begged.
"Okay, shhh! Fine." I finally gave in as she did a little happy dance signaling for me to sit on the floor in front of her bed.
"So... The unspeakables. You haven't told me yet." I mentioned.
"Okay, so..." she started as she brushed through my hair.
"Ow! I thought you said you'd be gentle!"
"I never said that, but sorry." She said, before continuing to braid.
"Anyways. We can never talk about...
the boys. At least in front of the headmistress.""Why did you whisper... the boys?" I asked.
"Because. We come here to learn and to be a wife to our future partner, right?"
"Yeah, which is bogus, but go on."
"The boys go to the b-side to learn and to become a gentleman and a husband."
"Right, I know that. My brother told me." I said. "He said it was hell though."
"It's not that bad once you get used to it. I just don't know how it is for... them."
"The boys?"
"The Unspeakables."
...
I woke up the next morning and took off the t-shirt that Yeojeong wrapped on my head the night before. You took it off surprised at how it kept your hair super nice.
"Okay." I sighed "It's Monday the first day of classes. I got this."
"Yes you do."
"Ahhhhhh!!!" I jumped not expecting Yeojeong to be in the doorway.
"You good?" She chuckled.
"No." I walked out of the bathroom as Yeojeong shut the door behind me.
"Roommates." I shook my head sitting on my bed.
Yeojeong walked out of the bathroom with an annoyed face.
"I heard that. You're not any better."
We both stared at each other for a moment before bursting into laughter.
"Okay, Okay. Sorry." I said calming myself down.
"You're fine." Yeojeong said sitting on her bed in front of me. "Okay. Today are your first classes. If you say anything about... boys first. You'll be kicked out or worse detention. Out of the classroom or our dorm refer to them as the unspeakables."
"Thanks, Yeojeong."
"No problem. Now hurry up or you'll be late. Remember always be fast."
"Okay, see ya after school" Yeojeong yelled as I ran out the dorm room.
"Yeah, she's not going to survive a second."
