It was Sunday and I woke up to see Yeojeong's bed empty.
Typical Yeojeong. Always up early even on the Weekend. Could never be me. I jumped out of bed and put on a pair of Jeans, a white tank top, and the jacket I wore almost everyday before coming here. It had many badges that my brother had collected throughout his years of traveling outside of The Middle.
He said it was like no place he's
ever been, and people could live freely without a mate. He said they could even date before the age of 18. And they don't have to find a mate right away either. Something he has always wanted me to do was go there. He said that Paris is where he treasured the most. One day I will go to Paris and take all of my friends and family with me. At least I hope so. It's seems too much like a freaking fantasy right now.I walked out of the elevator to see Sanghee and her friends sitting by the water fountain laughing. I started to walk to the snack machine as I started to notice their gaze on me.
"Well, look who it is?" Sanghee Called out before stepping in front of me blocking my access to the vending machine.
"What now, Sanghee?" I rolled my eyes thinking about how I have to spend my whole year dealing with this snob.
"So, I need you to do something for me." She smirked.
"I'd rather drown in that fountain."
"Come on, please." She begged.
I pushed her out of the way of the vending machine and put my dollar in.
"No. Why should I?"
"Because. I can get you kicked out of this place..." She said.
"Cool. That'd be nice anyway." I chuckled before grabbing my pretzels from the bottom.
"And thrown in jail."
"Yeah, right." I turned towards her.
"I can tell Headmistress Bae that you have a... boyfriend..."
"Ooh, scary. With what evidence?" I rolled my eyes again trying to walk away.
"I have my ways."
Yeojeong walked up to us. "I'd do it if I were you." She whispered in my ear.
"Why?"
Sanghee looked at me as she rested her hand on her hip. "I need you to go to the border."
"Ah, hell nah."
"Come on I've been seeing this...boy...pass by there, and I need to know who he is." She whined.
I stared at her with a blank expression. So she's blackmailing me by threatening to tell the headmistress that I have a boyfriend, so I go to the border to get her a boyfriend. Makes so much sense.
"That ain't happening." I nudged her in the shoulder walking the opposite direction.
"Fine. I guess I tell the headmistress these are your boyfriend's."
I turned around to see her holding a pair of boxers in her hands.
"Where'd you get those?" Yeojeong asked, puzzled at the sight of the male undergarments.
"Not telling." She giggled along with her minions behind her.
I thought about my brother again. I'm a rebel. Who will they believe? Probably Sanghee. At this point I had no choice.
"But what if I get caught? Then what do I do?"
"Relax, dumbo. They don't have any security by the border. They do at the middle, but not at the one that separates the b-side and g-side."
"She's right on that." Yeojeong confirmed.
I sighed then agreed.
"Fine."
