"Kang Yeojeong!" Headmistress Bae yelled loudly. Everyone stiffened. Especially the girl who was called.Leader Bae pointed her stick towards the girl then at the ground next to me. She slowly walked towards us as she dragged her feet in the dirt.
"Quicker Ms.Kang."
The girl quickly sped up.
"Kang Yeojeong."
"Yes ma'am?"
"Please show Ms.Kim Eunju to her room." Leader Bae instructed sternly.
Kang Yeojeong. My roommate I'm guessing. The girl looked at me with a puzzled look. I raised an eyebrow at her, before turning my focus back to Leader Bae.
"Hurry on now girls. You don't have much time before lunch."
Everyone scattered like little cockroaches. Running every which way. All different directions some walking towards the giant apartment looking school building, while others went towards the park.
I bet you're imaging this looking like a school with a playground. It was more like a little town. There were shops and restaurants. Things to go and do on the weekends. These were all self service. No workers. Which was different but I figured it out soon enough.
Yeojeong turned her head staring like she was studying my every move.
"So... you're the new Rebel?" The girl said as we started to walk towards to school.
"Yeah. Why is that such a big deal?" I shook my head as I walked through the glass doors into the main hall.
The girl stopped me as she dramatically gasped. "Oh, it's a big deal. I mean... The Rebel is the one who is disliked the most. Basically all of us have to have five years and you? Less, right?"
"Yeah." I agreed.
"Exactly, now come on."
She grabbed me hand dragging me towards the elevator.
"Watch out!" Yeojeong pushed me out of the way of the big waterfountain in the middle of the main hall.
"Ow. How the hell did someone decide this was a good place to put a water fountain?"
"It's the g-side fountain. I'm pretty sure... the Unspeakables... have one too."
"The unspeakables?"
I am really starting to doubt this girls sanity.
"Shhh!! I'll tell you later." She whispered.
"Oh and everyone hates you by the way.""Great. Awesome." I sighed, as I followed the short girl into the elevator.
...
I finished unpacking my bags, while Yeojeong lied down on her bed writing in her notebook. I sighed with relief before plopping down on the cushioned surface.
"So... These Unspeakables."
Yeojeong slammed her notebook closed before giving me a confused look.
"Didn't you learn anything before you came here? Oh, right. You're a Rebel." She rolled her eyes sitting up at the the side of her bed. Since our beds are right next to each other we were now face to face
"What does me being a Rebel have to do with it?"
"Most Rebels know nothing before coming here. What grade are you in, Ms. Eunju."
"11th."
"Ahuh. I'm in... 11th as well." She did her best at trying to be intimidating, but her voice sounded more like a child playing detective then an actual one.
"Uh..."
"Hmm? I've spent 3 years here. And this is your first day." She stroked her chin as she raised an eyebrow
"Let me guess. You hate me too?"
"Nope. Well, sort of. It's just... I'm technically not supposed to be friends with a Rebel."
"Who made up that stupid rule?" I rolled my eyes as I swiped a piece of hair from out of my face.
"Not sure. It's been a rule for a while."
She looked upright as she thought.
"I guess we're cool. But only in here.""Whatever." I just chuckled a bit blowing air from my nose, with a smirk across my face.
"Now, hurry up. It's almost lunch." She said standing up off her bed tying her hair up into a ponytail. "First G-side rule you'll learn from me. Always tie up you're hair before going to lunch. Since you have longer hair, I suggest you do it. Leader Bae's orders."
"Alright." I got up off my bed lazily trying to find a hair tie from my drawer.
"Finally."
I tied my hair up into a messy bun before following Yeojeong out the door.
"Don't follow me remember. Only friends inside our dorm room."
"Yeah, whatever."
"There's an empty table in the back corner by the trash cans. That's your table. Some former Rebels may be nice enough to sit by you. Some may not. And if they don't, you seem like the type of person who can get by on their own." She said before running into the elevator. As I watched the doors closed she gave me a smile and two thumbs up.
"Yeah. Some dorm friend you are."
"I don't even know where the lunchroom is!" I yelled even though I knew she couldn't hear me. "Again. So fucking great ."
