"So, how's it going with Hawks, Furaito?" Y/n asked, using the pairs Hero names in public. She saw Kikuyu blush, looking away at a dog passing."Its been well.." she nodded, dodging the true meaning behind Y/n's question.
"Come on, everyone and their mothers know you two are basically dating." Y/n laughed, making Kikuyu sigh.
"Yeah. I was kinda hoping for a more laid back relationship, but god those fangirls are harsh." Kikuyu pressed her lips together, thinking back on all of the hate tweets and letters she had received.
"Well no one compares to you. You're a stunner!" Y/n nudged Kikuyu on the shoulder, making her blush once more.
"How about you? Any boys you like?" Kikuyu changed the subject. Y/n shrugged.
"Not really. I just want to get high school over with and get my hero license. Things'll be 100% easier once im out." Y/n sighed, adjusting her belt.
"I suppose thats true. But seriously? Not one boy caught your eyes? Or a girl?" Kikuyu smirked at the last sentence, looking over at Y/n.
"I mean..." Y/n hummed, thinking about one of her classmates. "There is my classmate. He's really nice and supportive towards me. But i doubt he'd like me in that way. Im not even sure we're friends at the moment."
"Awe that sucks. Im sure he'll realize just how wonderful you are. You're so talented and beautiful, you're bound to catch his attention sooner or later." Kikuyu smiled warmly, stopping at a lemonade stand. "Want anything?"
"No, im good. Thanks though." Y/n said, watching a bus drive past.
Kikuyu ordered herself a drink, while Y/n paid attention to a little girl playing with a kitten. She wasn't watching where she was going, and ended up running right into traffic.
Y/n's heart jumped as her body bolted towards the little girl, grabbing onto her hand last moment and shielding her tiny body against hers as she turned intangible.
A car drove right through them, swerving as all the traffic came to a stop. Y/n exhaled, looking down at the little girl in her arms, who was almost crying.
Y/n brought the girl out of traffic, making sure she wasn't hurt before letting go.
"Sweetheart, are you alright?" Y/n kneeled down to the girls level, a hand on top of her head. The girl nodded, hugging her tightly as she thanked her.
When Y/n looked up, cameras were pointed at her, people whispering and cheering her for protecting the girl from getting hit.
"Yurei!" Kikuyu said as she ran over to Y/n, making sure to use her hero name. "Thank goodness you were looking. Good job."
Suddenly, a news reporter was in front of Y/n, a camera and mic held in her face.
"Mystery hero! What is your name?" The reporter lady asked, and Y/n stood up, allowing Kikuyu to help the little girl find her mom.
"My name is Yurei." Y/n answered, speaking clearly into the mic.
"Ive never heard of you before. Are you an underground hero?"
"Im actually a Hero-in-Training." Y/n smiled, making the reporter ask a couple more questions before Kikuyu could excuse her.
"Look at you, already famous!" Kikuyu whispered to Y/n as they walked away from the reporter. "Anyway, the girls mom would like to thank you."
Kikuyu lead Y/n to a brunette woman holding onto the little girls hand. She still had the brown and cream kitten at her feet.
"Oh thank you very much for saving my precious Toruu!" The mom bowed to Y/n, to which she smiled.
