Jason's pov

Liam was starting school and I was happy for him but with every milestone, I get sad. Not a day goes by that I don't miss that little girl. Since it's his first day, we drove him. He was super nervous about going. "Don't you worry, kiddo. You'll make alot of friends." I say, handing him his lunchbox. Miranda looked scared herself, her hand wrapped tightly around her necklace. "Hey careful. You don't want to break that." I say, gently pulling her hand free and holding it. She smiles worried. "I don't wanna go. I don't want friends! I have you guys!" "Buddy, it's.... Give it a chance for me. I really think you'll like it." I pick the sweet little five year old up. "B-But..." "How about this? You go to your first day of school like a big brave boy and when I come to pick you up, we'll go get ice cream and you can tell me all about it?" He's reluctant. "OK." He finally says after two minutes of fiddling with my necklace. I kiss the top of his head and set him back down. A teacher smiles and welcomes him in. He looked back at us scared and waved. "You'll have so much fun, son. Trust me." "If I don't, I want double ice cream!" He shouts, pointing at me with a weary smile. "Deal." I say, hugging Miranda sideways. We head for home. "That poor baby!" She gasps. "He'll be okay, hun. Just gotta get used to it." I pat her hand and go to fix lunch. "How's about I whip us up some BLTs." She sits at the table and nods in agreement. "He'll be alright, sweetheart." I say, kissing her head. I start to fry the bacon and she cuts tomatoes. I was worried when I heard sniffling. I turned around and pulled her into a hug. "You alright." "No! I want my little girl back! I'd give anything!" She gasps, crying into my shoulder. I'm nervous to suggest this but.... "We... We could always try again." She looked even more upset. "We aren't replacing Leah!" Shit. "No way of course not hun. Nobody will ever replace our daughter. You know that." I say, holding her tightly. "Everything will be okay."

*a few hours later*

Little man gets out of school. I was waiting for him in the parking lot. He excitedly runs to my truck. I scoop him up and he hugs my neck tightly. "You were right! School is so much fun!!" He gasps, jumping up and down in my arms. I laugh softly and set him in his car seat. "OK let's go get some ice cream and you can tell me all about it."

Miranda's pov

I walk into my young son's room, plagued by the guilt and pain I constantly feel for our daughter. I miss her every day of my life. This was the original nursery. It used to have two cribs. "Oh Lea." I whisper sitting in the rocking chair. I gently touch the little glass pendant that holds her ashes. "I miss you so much." "Mama don't cry." I tense up in surprise then look to the doorway to see Liam and Jason. For a split second, I thought it was her and I have no idea why. He ran over and I scooped him up. "I made a friend at school. Her name's Ellie Mae." He says, hugging my neck. I hug him glad to have him in my life. Even if I miss his sister to death. "Hey babe, how ya holdin' up?" Jase asks, walking over and kissing my head. I force a smile and look up at the loving man. "I think I am ready to try again." He smiles. "You're the best mother in the world." "I love you mama." He whispers, cuddling closely. I'm so proud to be a mother.
