Kokichi and Maki
"I can't believe I have to work at a dead-end job like Walmart for the day... and worse it is with someone like you..." Maki heaved, but Kokichi wasn't affected by Maki's annoyance.
"Awww Maki roll... I was looking forward to working with you! What have I ever done to you?" Kokichi chortled, and a flashback of many absurd and reckless occasions came to Maki as he stared at Kokichi's huge smile.
Despite her natural assumptions about Kokichi, the morning went fine. They were going to be working until ten tonight, and right now it was one in the afternoon. It wasn't like she was going to spend weeks on end with him again like last time.
But that is before Maki and Kokichi's break where things started to go wrong.
Maki dealt with a Karen, and trust me when I tell you she didn't take the situation lightly.
It all started off with a normal question, and it somehow turned into a fully-fledged argument.
"Ma'am. Do you know where the manager is?" The customer asked Maki.
"He is probably in the back. If you don't mind waiting I can go and get him." Maki responded to the woman, but that is when she started complaining.
"Wait you actually work here? I was just making sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me. I don't need the manager." The woman stated, and instead of letting it go Maki decided to pursue the middle-aged woman.
This would prove to be a bad decision on her part, and if she only kept her mouth shut she wouldn't have gotten in a fight with the outspoken woman.
"Ma'am I don't understand. I have a Walmart vest on so it should be pretty obvious that I work here." Maki said to the Karen trying to sound neutral, but the woman took it the wrong way and she even started to get aggressive.
"Well for one thing you look like some kind of serial killer, and I honestly wouldn't let my kids near you if you were a Walmart employee or not." The woman brought up, and Maki started to get frustrated with her.
Maki hated it when things like that were said to her, and she wasn't going to let her walk away with a comment like that against her.
"Excuse me but that was very rude, and I think I deserve an apology for that ma'am," Maki told the woman, but she was worlds away from apologizing to Maki.
"Shut up! It isn't my fault that you look like that. You creep the hell out of me, and I think this time I really want to see your manager!" The Karen yelled at Maki, and this is where she started creating a scene.
If Maki decided to walk away right there may be the next thing wouldn't have happened...
"Fuck you! Do you know what it is like to be in my position!? Everyone I meet is so scared of me just because I don't look like the average everyday teenage girl with a lot of friends, self-confidence, and good looks! But I am a human, and I expected to be treated that way. If you don't know how to be nice to people I think you should take your goodie two shoes and run out of this store." Maki scolded the Karen as all of the anger she tried to contain within herself came erupting out in the worse way everyone in the store that day could even imagine.
That mess caught the attention of Kokichi, and he honestly felt saddened for Maki. Of course, that sadness was cut short when he saw Maki being reprimanded by Walmart's managers, and he was astonished she wasn't fired on the spot for her outburst.
Maki and Kokichi went on their one hour at five, and Maki wasn't looking forward to listening to Kokichi and his annoying high-pitched voice. She never liked Ouma, and she was never going to.
