"Welcome the old and the new.
Another year of mysteries for you.
With the new moon in the sky.
With a howls cry.
It may seem all fine and dandy.
But I have some warnings that may prove handy.
Listen to me all.
As I talk to the hall.
Friendships will be tested
Alliance will be contested.
Be wary of the full moons bite.
But remember there is always light.
No matter how the future becomes dark.
And how you leave your mark.
These grounds thought they have seen it all.
But this year a unknown hungry maul.
Will try and reach out.
With a snuffling viscous snout-"

"I think that will be all, Sorting Hat!"

Stiles frowned, surprised and each of his friends looked at each other with similar amounts of confusion.

They...interrupted the sorting hats song?

The headmistress, professor McGonagall had stepped forward, a troubled expression on her face as she stepped in front of the sorting hat and stopped its song.

They all were huddled in the dinner hall, ready to go through the usual start of year process and Stiles remembered last year that the sorting hat had definitely sang.

So why wasn't it aloud to finish its song?

Some annoyed and confused grumping erupted in the group but no one made a huge fuss, not wanting to upset the scary looking headmistress.

"I suppose it was a little bit creepy?" Kira said, trying to figure out why the headmistress had stopped the song.

"His song was creepy last year and no one stopped him" Stiles replied.

Lydia said, thinking about the lines of the song "Maybe it had something to do with the recent attacks? It could be-" She stopped herself as Professor McGonagall started to talk once more, addressing the hall, calmly yet firmly.

"In the light of recent events there will be some changes in Hogwarts schooling. I'm sure you are aware of the current circumstances, so I will not dive too deeply into it. I will however let you know that hatred, violence  will not be tolerated in this school"

She straightened even more somehow, standing tall. Despite her age, her eyes held a strict and a dangerous light.

"If I hear that anyone one of you has been foolish enough to support this hate and violence that has been attacking our world, you'll find yourself one a one way ticket on the train, home. Do I make myself clear?"

"Yes Miss"

A chorus of replies answered her.

She continued to talk and everyone now was paying full attention, watching her intently. It was clear she had some big news.

"Hogwarts has always been  welcoming school. We encourage wisdom, tolerance,  creativity and most importantly to stand up for what is right. Our late headmasters sacrifices and many others were to make sure that our school stayed colourful, bright, good and true even if the world around looked bleak, dark and grey"

She then made a movement with her hands, beckoning someone.

Stiles looked on surprised as not someone but someone's, a group of students that he recognised walked up to her side.

They were the students on the train! The one pixie had attacked!

"There has been anger and hatred stirred up by the recent events among wizards, witches and other supernatural people. Here at Hogwarts we recognise that the aggression of a small amount of people, does not in any shape or form reflect on to all others"

She stepped forward, her head held high.

"I have sometimes been told that words don't mean much and that actions speak louder than words. And so..."

The Headmistress smoothly lifted her hand towards the group in an introductory gesture.

The students next to her had various expressions, some looked nervous while others looked a little defensive as if they were ready for anything.

Lydia understood faster than others and her eyes widened in a surprised expression as she said "Oh..."

"Oh? Oh what?!" Scott huffed.

Stiles had a feeling he knew where this was going and had caught on, a similar time as Lydia.

"Just listen" Lydia replied sharply back to him, as The headmistress once more started to speak.

"And so, for the first time Hogwarts publicly welcomes werewolves into our school"

The hall was silent.
