I'm so sorry for taking an unplanned hiatus, my schedule got crazy all of a sudden. I'll try and get better with updates, I promise!

I also wanna say thank you to everyone reading and showing their support, it means a lot to me. We're almost at 5K reads!! 🥳

I hope you enjoy this chapter, lemme know what you think!

Three months later

I glance around my packed-up room, looking again for anything I might've missed.

Everyone else was making lunch, and Izzie packing me a bag of snacks for my flight, that I insisted she didn't have to make but she decided otherwise.

I'm adamant about leaving, to say the least. I'll be back here soon enough for Med school, and we all unanimously agreed that everybody else would wait until we could take our residency together, which I thought was thoughtful of them. Especially since everyone else is ahead of me by one or two years.

I take out the last of my cardboard boxes and everybody's in the living room waiting for me.

Izzie hands me a container of snacks and hugs me tightly.

"We're really gonna miss you, Mer. Come back as soon as you can."

"I will," I say to her. "You bet your ass I'm visiting you almost every weekend."

George gives me a quick hug as well. "Be safe out there. Who knows what goes on in New Hampshire."

I chuckle. "Basically nothing."

Cristina steals me for a hug too, which surprises me the most.

"As much as I give you a hard time, I love you. You're my person."

"You're my person too."

"Don't replace me while you're there. At least not in the first 3 months, you need to miss me a little bit before you make friends."

"I could never replace you," I say to her.

Just as I'm about to grab some boxes, someone knocks on our door, almost frantically.

I go to the door and open it, then instantly regret not looking through the peephole first.

"Hey," Addison greets. "I'm glad I caught you."

I turn back to look at my roommates, and Izzie immediately breaks. "I'm sorry, she seemed like she really wanted to talk to you..."

I sigh and look back at Addie- no, Addison. She has a small smile on her face.

"What do you want?"

"I came to give you these." She hands me some things I forgot at her house, and some things she bought me in our time together. I don't take the things that she bought.

"Anything else you need? Or can I leave now?"

"Can we talk? In private?"

I contemplate for a minute, whether that would be a good idea or not. I decide to humour her, even if I'm not exactly keen on listening.

We step out into the hallway and she looks down at her feet.

"I never got the chance to explain the situation to you..."

"And if you explain, I'll just forgive you?"

"Probably not. But I at least want you to listen and decide for yourself what you want to do."

"Derek, please," Addison begged him, "It's Christmas. You can't leave me alone on Christmas."

"I can't leave my patient alone either."
