I was walking in a school, with my friend beside me. Her name was Bailey, mine was Ali, and we both liked to play a certain instrument. We were walking up a ramp, lining up for class, and I sat on the railing as I had before. We were thinking about what would happen if someone grabbed my backpack, “you would fall to your doom,” Bailey said.
“I’d probably have to go to the hospital, especially if my head hit the cement corner,” I added.
“I would go after the kid if they pulled your backpack,” Bailey said.
“Well, I would thank you, if I could… cause if I fell I would probably be thinking about how the fall hurt…” I replied.
There was silence for a few seconds. “Well, what do you think Mr. C is going to teach us today?” Bailey asked.
“Um… maybe a… I don’t know…” We were thinking about what we were going to learn today when my backpack suddenly got heavier. I felt like it was alive, and the backpack was pulling me down. I was pulled backward and fell headfirst toward the floor. It all happened so fast but felt like hours passed. My friend with a shocked look on her face, a kid running away, the railing rising and leaving me below, all this happened in what felt like slow motion. Then came the pain. It felt like someone put a firework or a bomb in my head. I couldn’t see anything because the pain had blinded me. When I could see again Bailey ran back from where the kid who I had seen running away went. Bailey stood by me and was probably hoping I was okay. I knew what we were both thinking: I had fake fallen a lot of times, it was something I had done for fun. I thought I could probably get up. So I got up… except I didn’t my body wouldn’t move I was stuck there. When I opened my mouth to speak, no words came out. The world got blurry... and then went black.
