A Month Later

Well, not much had changed during the last month. I didn’t remember anyone else, I still went to the special classes, the mysterious specialist, John, hadn’t come back.

I got picked up from my school by my mom like usual, but then we didn’t go home. We went to the C.P.A.G.A. which stands for: Child and Pet Association for the Good of All. We went in and I immediately went to the cat/kitten area. I saw a few kittens and tons of cats. My mom told me that most of the pets were trained, or in training to be service animals. I wasn't listening though, because I’d found Lilac. Lilac was a grey cat with green eyes, a brown nose, and what looked like a mouth mask, because of the placement of her white fur (aka, she had a mustache). An employee came over and told us that Lilac, a 15-year-old cat, was chill and trained to help those with hearing trouble. I looked at my mom and she knew that if I was going to get a special needs pet, this would be the one. My mom asked if people who don't have trouble hearing could still adopt this cat.
The employee, Jacob, replied, “We here at CPAGA only give trained pets to those with special needs.”
“If someone suffers from memory loss, can they adopt Lilac?” My mom questioned.
“Potentially, though if you are asking for yourselves that would be a no because Lilac has not shown any signs of wanting to go with you,” Jacob replied. Luckily a few minutes later Lilac came out from her cat cave and laid beside me. I gave Lilac a pet and she purred. Jason noticed and said, “If one of you has special needs, you can go to the front desk and fill out the papers for Lilac.”

We brought Lilac home and my mom asked me what I wanted to name this cat. It took me a few minutes, but I decided on Rachel. We got her a leash and collar, with charm, and all the other cat needs. It took a few days, but we got Lilac-  nope Rachel and Butterscotch to be friends.

Most of the following days were spent with Rachel and Butterscotch. I had a picture of my mom appear and it told me that her other name was Melaina. All the rest of the month was normal, I went to special classes, I came home and played with Rachel and Butterscotch, and I studied pictures of my life before the fall to try to remember something new. One day it finally happened. I was chilling after school when the world turned, you guessed it, black. Pictures after pictures of my old life came back, me in elementary school, me meeting my friends, me adventuring with some girls named, Cate, Isabelle, and Petra, and many more images. When I woke up my mother was watching me with a worried look on her face. There was also, very much a surprise, John the specialist. John looked like he was studying me. It made me feel like a new science thing, and he was a scientist, inspecting me. I told them that I was fine and John eventually left. I later told my mom that all my memories had come back and she was happy.

So I was moved out of the special class and I got to see my friends every day. I still got to play with my pets, and I got to keep Rachel. I had made some friends in the special class, and I still got to see them in LC every day. (LC stands for, Learning Club, mandatory for the kids in the special class, but others can come too) My life went back to normal… ish. Well, even though the fall was NOT the most awesome thing, I now have a cat and some new friends. I am glad that my life turned out this way. I’m glad you came to hear the story. See you next time.
