As darkness falls

"We went to prom together senior year." Nezumi spoke into the stilled silence. "It's one of my last good memories of him." He whispered.

Shion opened the door to Nezumi's knock. He looked amazing in a black tux with blue tie and waist coat. Nezumi stepped up to him, slipping the blue rose into his lapel.

"It should be red, for the way I feel about you." He whispered. Shion had been the only person he could recall actively falling in love with. He stroked the soft cheek as the boy smiled up at him.

"You're looking good, too. All cleaned up." Nezumi chuckled. If only Shion knew what the suit he wore truly hid. He stepped back.

"Shall we?" He gestured to the waiting limo. It was a small one, but it had a driver. Shion beamed. His hand gripped Nezumi's arm. The dark teen knew his time with the boy was drawing to an end. He knew, he had to make the best of every moment with him.

The car was plush inside. Shion ran his hands over the velvet seat. He bounced around giggling as he rode with his back to the front of the car. He straddled Nezumi's lap, kissing him. Nezumi chuckled at his enthusiasm. It had taken a lot of his control not to groan when Shion hit his broken rib.

Nezumi smiled through the pain. He was just glad to be with Shion. The night was magical. The gym was decorated like the ocean, a place Nezumi found out, Shion loved. He pointed out the fish, laughed at how the guy who was snorkeling was under the water, as was his tube.

But for Nezumi, the best part came when the music slowed down. He had been trying to decided if it would be a good idea to ask Shion to dance or not. He had never smiled so much as he was in awe of the delight on the other boys face. A slow song came on. Nezumi turned to find Shion. The pale boy simply took his hand. He backed up, pulling an enthralled Nezumi with him.

Slipping his arms around Shion, pulling him up against him, feeling his body sway with his. They moved easily. Shion had learned a dance just to show Nezumi that he could. For Nezumi he was thrilled that the boy had done something so precious to him. Of course, being Nezumi...

"I had to show him up." He grinned wickedly at the crowd. "Shion had learned to dance for me. Knowing how much music meant to my sanity." He whispered.

The next slow song, Nezumi didn't hesitate. He pulled Shion with him. Spinning the other boy around, he saw flashes of Shion's shocked face. Shion stumbled as Nezumi glided over the floor. Dancing, expressing himself with music, was the only time the tall dark haired teen ever felt comfortable in a crowd.

He didn't even notice the other dancers. For him they melted into the background. His eyes were only for the pale face gaping at him as he guided him to the points he wanted. Shion moved as if in slow motion as Nezumi swung his body around. When the song ended, Nezumi was panting slightly. They stood in the center of the floor, Shion dipped backwards over Nezumi's arm. The dark head pressed a kiss to the other boys neck, before swinging him up. He took him off of the dance floor.

"After the dance, Shion surprised me by showing me he had reserved a room for us. Now we had been lovers for two years by this point. I was thrilled he did this, but it terrified me." Nezumi set the empty cup down. He had, had too much coffee already.

"You see, you can take a sewer rat out of the sewer, but the sewer always calls its own home." He stated miserably. He went to the fridge tucked in the corner. There was some water bottles in the bottom. He pulled one out. Drinking about half, he went back to his spot in front of the crowd.

"How did you break your rib?" Someone asked. Nezumi sighed.

"My past is always there, lurking." He muttered. After making love to Shion, Nezumi had watched him fall asleep. He went to get ice, when he ran into a man others only knew as being called the leader. He had two goons with him.
