Beyond Twilight a Carlisle Cullen Fan Fiction

The Hunt

"Wait Carlisle! They're gone aren't they? Why are we leaving?" He looked at me with worry clear in his eyes "James is a tracker Ann, he lives for the hunt and he won't stop until he gets what he's after ..... We'll have to kill him." My confusion is suddenly replaced by fear. "So he's after me and Bella now?" The silence he provided is all the answer I need. "Where are we going?" "Were going to meet the others at the house then form a plan." His eyes flicker to my face momentarily trying to gauge my reaction. My face paled instantly. My voice squeaked out "I have to go home Carlisle. I can't leave Amelia there alone." I pull out my phone as fast as I can and am flooded with releif to see a text from her saying she was called into work for an emergency surgery and wouldn't be home until late. I showed Carlisle the text as we pulled into the garage of his home, he sighed in audible relief. "I'll make some calls and see if I can have your aunt stay there overnight. I'll have her monitor one of my patients for me." I sent amelia a quick text letting her know Im spending the weekend with bella and alice and not to worry. I step out of his car and everybody is already there waiting except for bella and edward. Carlisle immediately pulls out his phone making calls then after he's hung up he starts telling everyone what they need to do and where they need to go when laurent appears out of thin air at the garage door entrance. Carlisle immediately takes a defensive stance pulling me behind him. "I'm here to help. Nobody knows James like I do. I've grown quite tired of his games and don't wish to be involved. He has unparalleled senses, absolutely lethal. Do not underestimate him or the woman, Victoria." Carlisle stands slowly asking me to wait with the other as he leads laurent inside. When Carlisle finally returns he has Bella and Edward in tow. "Laurent left" I nod quickly wondering what we need to do next. Looking over at Bella I'm overwhelmed with concern, she looks so upset and like she's going to vomit. I pull her off to the side while Carlisle starts telling the others the plan. "Hey, are you ok? You know ... despite everything." She looks away like she's holding back tears. "I had to tell my dad something.... something I knew would hurt him so he'd let me leave. He'll never forgive me." A sly tear escapes her right eye slowly trailing down her cheek and onto her lips. "Everything is going to be ok Bells. He's your dad .... of course he'll forgive you, he loves you." I feel a small pang in my chest remembering my own dad and his kind, forgiving nature."I dont relish in the thought of killing another creature. Even a sadistic one like James." The pain in carlisles voice is enough to pull me out of my trance. I walk to him grabbing his hand to provide some comfort. "What if he kills one of us first?" Bella chimes in leaving a feeling of unease at the thought of any of us dying. "I'm going to run Bella south. Can you lead the tracker away from here?"
"No, edward. James knows you would never leave Bella. He'll follow you." Alice speaks up "I'll go with Bella and Annalise. Jasper and I will drive them south. We'll keep them safe." Edward sounds unsure "can you keep your thoughts to yourself?." Alice nods slightly "yes." Carlisle places his hand on the small of my back and pulls me into an embrace. "I wish I could go with you darling but I have to stay here and find James. Please stay with Alice and Jasper and try to be safe. I'll miss you." He placed a kiss on top of my head lingering just for a moment before Alice tows us away and into the backseat of her car. Edward starts throwing bellas clothes around and asks me to remove my jacket. I quickly do as I'm told as esme and Rosalie are both told to put the clothes on to lead the tracker west. "Why? What're they to me?" Rosalie sounds almost hateful and im not sure why. We've never done anything to her for her to act like this. Carlisle is first to interuppt " Rosalie, Bella is with Edward and Annalise is mine. They're part of this family now. And we protect our family." He hands her bellas coat which she tentatively takes and walks towards the car with Emmett. Carlisle comes around to my side pulling me into a short wistful kiss. Please come back to me Carlisle... I just found you." He caresses my cheek with adoration looking deeply into my eyes "I'm not going anywhere." The car slowly reverses as carlisle steps away from the car. The more space that's put between us the more my heart aches.
