ALANI

"This is kidnapping," I stated, glaring at the side of Valerio's face as he made himself comfortable behind the wheel.

He was literally stealing me.

Valerio turned to me, a frown plastered on his forehead. Without another word, he reached over and secured the seatbelt over my chest. "What did I say about shutting up? I swear—" Valerio didn't finish his sentence.

My glare hardened.

"If you wanted me to shut up, you shouldn't have thrown me into your fucking car," I said boldly, about to click the seatbelt off when Valerio's head snapped into my direction.

I saw the threat immediately and my hand went slack. I was a lot more confident when I was drunk, but I could see that Valerio wasn't playing around about my safety in his car.

I should probably listen to him and be quiet, but my pride got the best of me.

"Did you really think I was going to let you go back to him? Looking like that?" Valerio stated, scowling at the road ahead. He tapped his fingers on the steering wheel, as if he was running out of patience.

"I'm not that drunk," I argued. "And I wasn't just with him. We were a group and the other two left to fuck in the toilets," I said before I could stop myself.

Just saying it out loud sounded insane but Valerio wanted the truth and that's what he got.

"Your hand was on his," Valerio said, and I let out a frustrated groan.

"Yes because—" I cut myself off. Considering the fact that Valerio was already pissed, it wouldn't be a good idea to tell him that Fabian asked if he could kiss me.

"What?" he asked, looking at me.

I sat up right. "Keep your eyes on the road or I'm not telling you."

"Fine," he said, turning his head. "Go on."

"He's going through something and I comforted him. Nothing more. Nothing less," I said and it wasn't all a lie. I wasn't attracted to Fabian, not in the least. However, I was attracted to the brooding man with the cold expression next to me and after everything, he should have known that.

"That's all?" Valerio asked.

"Yes," I said exasperatedly. "You left anyway. You walked out of the bar and you were going to leave me there if I didn't come after you."

"I walked back to my car to get my gun," Valerio answered, and I gasped out loud.

"Valerio. You can't just shoot people," I said, holding my hand to my chest.

"I wasn't going to shoot. Just threaten," he said and paused. "A little."

"You're crazy," I replied, sinking into my seat. "You're lucky I'm tipsy right now or else I would have shouted at you more," I said, really starting to feel the shots making itself known. My head was spinning and if I wasn't already seated, I would have collapsed.

"You're the lucky one," Valerio said, turning into a street that I recognised.

He was taking me home.

"How?"

"If you were sober..." Valerio trailed off, chuckling humourlessly. His tattooed knuckles tightened around the steering wheel, and I automatically knew what he meant. If I was sober, he'd be fucking me until we both forgot why we're fucking.

I can't say I didn't want that, but I wasn't in the right state of mind and Valerio acknowledged that.

A smile started to creep on my face when I realised that Valerio only cared about me.
