I just couldn't depict what it was.
The only thing that came to mind is Irelia. The reason I was still moving my legs towards the enemy.
Was it her authoritative and strong leader like personality?
Maybe.
But I didn't think about it much further.
I knew I had to be completely focused to take on the foe. At least we took out the majority of the soldiers.
Now we had to finish up those who regrouped.
"I know you're injured do follow my lead. I'll spearhead us into battle. Just watch my back for a flank." Irelia ordered moving ahead.
The camp was positioned on hilly terrain so we were climbing up the hill to reach the center of the camp.
As we walked I notice a tent full of weapons. I motion Irelia over to me. Eyeing the equipment something sparks my interest.
It was a box full of hand held bombs. In their rush they didn't have time to take all the useful equipment.
"I think we could definitely use these to our advantage." I point over to the crate.
"Will we stoop so low as to use Noxian methods of war? Explosives are so crude and brutal." She responds.
I smile a little bit reminding myself of home. Where gunpowder was everyone's friend.
"If the Noxian brought these all the way overseas. It would be a waste not to use them." I grab one. It was much heavier than it looked. I could probably only take one.
Irelia rolled her eyes and continued walking. I joined her as we headed further into the camp.
As we reached an open space. We approach a wall of men. Shields up spears out. For two people it is suicide to fight.
Irelia gets closer to me and whispers.
"Now's a good time for that bomb." She says preparing to fight.
"Ahhh, so now you're on board." I smirk.
"Just shut up and do it." She orders
Lighting the fuse I chuck the bomb over the shield wall quickly catching the soldiers off guard.
They break formation getting away from the bomb.
Standing there satisfied I forget that we are also in threat of the bomb. And that Irelia has already subjugated two soldiers.
I run to the furthest soldiers from the bomb. He notices me and unsheathes his sword. The metallic noise of two blades clashing at full strength filled the air.
We both were fighting for our life. Either couldn't lose. More so myself. Because I was more than some army grunt. I wasn't fodder for the battlefields.
Seeing that the clash was taking too long I noticed his leg giving out. I put more force on his side. Messing with his center of gravity he fell.
I sink my sword in his chest putting him to rest.
Irelia is doing fine. Taking on a group of swordsmen. There were only a few more.
We fight all of them. Getting injuries along the way in return for the deaths of the soldiers. I kneel to the ground for a moment. Running out of energy. I breathe very deeply. A large gash on my right arm and many small cuts around my body.
Irelia looks tires too. Shes fighting one last soldier. Or so I thought.
From her flank comes a soldier in full sprint. Not noticing she doesn't react.
I'm tired as hell but I know I can't just sit and watch. With everything in me I stand up and run at the man with full power.
I tackle him to the ground with brute force. He lets out a brute grunt as our living corpses clash to the ground.
He throws me to the side and stands up. Putting his sword up above me he prepares to joust it through my stomach.
I can't do more. I don't have the energy. I don't have the will.
I just need to live a little longer. Please.
I beg to myself almost crying on the inside. My survival instinct short circuiting.
Blood all over me as it poured down like a waterfall. I swear I passed out but I feel like I noticed the man fall next to me.
I must have passed out.
Because what followed next was me lying on my back. On a wagon again. I worry again. Gaining trauma from the prisoner camp I panic. My body naturally moving. Trying to escape.
"Hey hey, calm down. You're safe." Soft words fill the air.
I look to my right seeing Irelia sitting on the edge of the wagon.
The world becoming more clear to me.
" What, where are we?" I ask.
"We're going back to the village. We succeeded in our mission. We took out most of the camp." She said looking out into the distance.
It's shocking to me that we pulled it off. It seemed like a suicide run. Well. Looking at me I would have been dead if it weren't for her.
"Hey Irelia." I look at her.
She looks back at me.
"Thank you for saving me. I'm not even Ionian but despite that fact, you treated me as one of your own. So thanks." I say but it's probably difficult to make out from my injured stuttery voice.
"You saved me too. I couldn't have gone in there without somebody to back me up. Without you I don't think I could have gotten out alive. Most people would retreat at the sight of those soldiers. So I have a lot of respect for you." Irelia says warmly.
I tried getting up but it was a meaningless effort. My body was already healing up so the pain of moving was unbearable.
I pass out really quickly again.
This time when I woke up I was in a bed under the cover of a tree. It wasn't a normal tree. It surrounded the bed and was shaped in a very unnatural shape.
Looking around I notice it isn't a tree. But a house made from. Well a tree.
I managed to get up despite the pain. Looking around I notice it's mid day already. Not far from me I notice Irelia standing next to a group of people. Shes ordering them around.
That woman is insane. After all this she's still working.
Walking up to her she notices me.
"You're finally awake. How are you feeling?" She asks.
"I should be asking you that, show are you still functioning after all of it?" I respond.
She chuckles.
"Ever since I started waging my war against Noxus I've been used to the worst conditions. I can't not be doing something productive unless I'm dancing. It's my only hobby." She explains.
"What about that strange bed I woke up on?" I scratch the back of my head.
"I think it's a gift of appreciation. Ionia was grateful we cleaned up her land from the noxians. And she felt indebted to you for sticking your life out." She says getting back to her work.
As she walks away I try to grasp the whole situation I'm in. I could never see myself being this selfless in the past. I smile.
"Oh and also." Irelia calls back as she turns around.
"I would appreciate your help more if you would like to. It felt nice having the support of a capable warrior in battle." She smiles and continues walking.
My heart slightly flutters.
Now I need to find Akali. She was probably around here somewhere. Her injury wasn't looking good.
