15. Not a Minecraft Date

a/n Still before Sapphire arrived *does weird dance*

Sigils and Biffle were discussing how to ask Henwy out. Biffle had forced Sigils to come over because he was pining over Henwy right now and was getting distracted. Sigils adamantly kept saying just because he lost every duel didn't mean anything. Biffle disagreed.

"You could ask him out on a Minecraft date."
"Absolutely not. At least offer something that doesn't give platonic vibes."
"Well, I suggested you have a romantic dinner and you said no to that too."
"If he says no it'll be awkward."
"But he won't."
"He might."
"He won't." Sigils sighed. This was getting them nowhere.

"What if you just ask him out then when he says yes bring him to a nice place to eat?"
"If, but I like that idea."
"Well if he says no then you'll just go to your room and cry."
"I will not cry if he says no."
"You will. Admit it."
"No, I won't. Now, if you excuse me, I'm going to ask out a cute guy on a date."
"Go have fun! Be sensible!" Biffle yelled after Sigils.

Sigils had texted Henwy to meet him outside their classroom. He would have texted him to meet him inside, but he didn't want him to think he wanted a duel.

Henwy arrived. He wasn't wearing his sword, thank goodness.
"Hey Sigils! What do you want to talk about?" Moments like these made Henwy seem like such a child but they also made butterflies appear in Sigils' stomach.
"I just wanted to ask, uh ask." His words were failing him. Suddenly, he heard a voice in his head. You can tell him anything, remember? It sounded faint, but it was all he needed.
"Will you, Henry Martin, go on a date with me?"
"Yes!"

"Here, come with me, I know a place!" Goodness, Sigils sounded so excited. But he was excited. The love of his life just said yes to him, what else was he meant to feel?

"What does this make us?"
"I'd like to be boyfriends." Sigils said, blushing fiercely.
"I'd like that too."

"Are you?" He asks, trailing off. Sigils realised what he meant.
"I'm bi."
"Cool. I'm gay. Homoflexible."
"Oh that's cool."
"You know what homoflexible is?"
"No." Sigils blushes, looking away.
"Oh, it basically means that I'm gay, but sometimes I experience attraction to girls too.""So you're gay except when you're not."

"Yes." He blushes furiously. "You made it easier to explain than Ian did. He's very intimidating."
"You told Ian?"
"Yeah, why?" Sigils groaned.
"Because I also told him and that means he knew we both like each other which means-"
"He'll crow over us when we tell him." Henwy groans. "We're dead."
"We don't have to tell him if you don't want to. We don't have to tell anyone if you don't want. Except Biffle, he's probably already guessed because-"
"Because what Sigils? Because you didn't go crying?" Henwy asks, grinning boyishly. He looks very kissable right now. Sigils shook that thought off.
"Shut up! Biffle already teased me about this, I don't need you doing it as well!"

"Eh. As your official boyfriend I'm allowed to make fun of you then do this." Henwy kisses him right on the lips. Sigils blushes.
"I liked that."
"I could tell."

"Seriously though, we don't have to tell anyone if you don't want to."
"I don't mind the 'minions' knowing. I don't think I want the students knowing yet."
"That's okay. I don't think I want the students knowing either." Sigils reassured him.

They arrived at the restaurant.

"I can see why you chose this place." Henwy said. "It's nice,"
"It's nice enough for a date, but you don't need a reservation, so that way I don't have to cancel last minute," Sigils said.
"You would think about that," Henwy laughed.

They both ordered sodas while they decided what food to have.

The waiter arrived to take their orders, with Sigils ordering a medium-rare steak and potatoes, while Henwy ordered spaghetti.

"Spaghetti? Really?"
"I'm in the mood for spaghetti," Henwy shrugged. Sigils shook his head and muttered something intelligible.

The two sat in silence for a couple of minutes.

"You know, I think this is when you're meant to see what you have in common with your date," Henwy said.
"You know what the problem is? We've been friends for too long. It's been what? 6, 8 years now?" Sigils said.

Henwy chuckled. "It hasn't been that long since this whole thing started. Try two,". Sigils frowned slightly.

"Yeah," he thought for a bit. "Doesn't mean I haven't liked you forever,"
"Real smooth Sigils,"
"Shut up,"

The waiter arrived with their food and they both tucked in hungrily.

"You know, I've liked you since forever as well," Henwy said.
"Hmm?"
"I've liked you since forever as well. I just didn't realise it until later," Henwy clarified. Sigils smiled.

"Awww"
"Hey, no awws," Henwy said, flustered.
"Awww, is someone flustered," Sigils teased.
"No,"
"Awww, is little Hen flustered?"

"Shut up, I'm literally taller than you,"
"We don't talk about that,"

Later, at the staff dinner table

"So, we want to tell you something."
"But we don't want the students to know for the time being." Henwy added. Biffle and Ian both opened their mouths to say something.
"You two, shut up. Let us talk." Biffle and Ian pouted.
"Now if you would do that for the rest of the time." Sigils joked.
"Please, you love us." Biffle said, doing a hair flip. Henwy squeezed Sigils' hand. Biffle had given them an opening.

"Not really, I only love Henwy." Sigils quipped. He was nervous. How would they react?
"Yes! I knew it!" Biffle and Ian crowed.
"Shut up!" Henwy and Sigils said, turning beetroot red.
"Are you guys a couple then?" Nico asked quietly.
"Yeah." Sigils confirmed.

"I really want to kiss you right now." He quietly added to Henwy.
"I do too." Henwy said, leaning in.
"The students will see." Sigils whispered. Henwy pouted. Sigils laughed. "You look so cute right now."
"I'm not cute!" he said, pouting again.
"I had to fall for something and it certainly wasn't for your smarts."
"Hey!" Sigils laughed again.

They fielded the questions. Sigils was bi, Henwy was gay or homoflexible. No, they didn't mean homosexual. Homoflexible means being gay, except when you're not. Then they all celebrated, much to Sigils' and Henwy's embarrassment. Sigils closed his eyes. It had been an amazing day.
