7. Conference

Nico POV

It was strong. I don't think she meant to show me that she could do some at all, so I don't think she was forcing herself to make it stronger than it was. I wrote it down, and added that she definitely needed to take magic.

I added that for two reasons. First of all, if I didn't record it, it would be suspicious. Second of all, she really did need to take magic. A really powerful magic needed to be taught how to use.

I headed over to where the others were and stood next to Sigils.

"Right, we'll make this quick. Nico, did you put down that she needed to take magic?"
"Yeah, but I would have put that down anyways."
"What do you mean by that?" Henwy speaks, making me jump.
"We-ell, her magic is definitely strong enough to get put in magic class, and I doubt she would force it to appear stronger than it already was."
"Interesting." Ian nods. "Well, what did you guys notice?"
"She seems really interested in swordfighting" Biffle shrugs.
"She's also good at the actual spying bit." Everyone stared at Henwy.

"Henwy, I don't think you understand how ironic that sentence is." Sigils said, vaguely disappointed.
"No, no, no, that's not what I meant. I mean, it was what I meant but-"
"Henwy, cut to the chase." Sigils sighed.
"Did you notice any obvious signs of spying? No! The only possible sign was the questions about magic, but we're all idiots and would have taken it like her parents had raised her to be fearful of magic or something!" By the end of this he had started to use flamboyant hand gestures, and I was glad he didn't do magic.

"The fact that we would probably choose to believe that is unbelievable." Bifle mutters.
"Well, anything else?" Ian asks, trying to steer us back on track.
"Apart from the fact that she has a different accent, not really." One of the alchemy professors says.

"Right then, that's all. I'll get her to do her final selection and then I'll deliver the news."

As I walk away, I find myself hoping she joins us.
