Azrael, Pre Colonial Philippines, 1039, Competition!!
They stop their stroll, placing a foot in the work-written room; their fierce facade washes to mellow with tears boiling in their eyes, striding and accompanying the sentiment of the situation.
I remember this!
Their body lands on a specific corner, scuttling their feet and backing away from it more. They chuckle, putting a hand on their chest, and they stay.
They sigh.
Time flies, their body numbs from the action, picking themself to a stand and waving at the room—it was a salient visit.
Their feet stride towards to exit, still dancing to the pale rhythm occupying their mind.
A pot shatters, and Azrael accuses them of this.
"Wh- when was this here?!"
Their heel turns toward the pieces, finding them spread across the threshold—a knock cannot be this intense.
"Who's there?"
There greets a squeal and a huff from the far window, petite footwear clashing into the dusty floor outside, and the distant chuckles teasing the child with triumph. Azrael pinches the bridge of their nose, clenching their fist and storming through the hallway.
They meet eyes with their brother playing with fire, "Oh- oh! Azra! what brings you here-"
"Read the room."
Their fingers grip a rigid container, "found it!" They stand with conceit and competence, ripping the door out of sight to greet a group of pathetic children. They smirk. They swipe. "Out, out, OUT...!"
As they tear the brand sticker off their adored item, they find a peaceful piece of parchment flying toward their feet; It's wrapped in a leaf, tattoo ink leaking from the center.
What's this? Again?
They lift the parchment, exposing the splotchy ink running down their arms; they gasp for air.
"LOOKING FOR A RUSTY MUSTY CRUSTY CHILD TO TURN INTO THE NEW DATU SOMEONE HELP US THE TWO BELOVED KINGS ARE MISSING I SWEAR TO THE GODS AND ALL THAT"
"Jeez!" They hear Milo alongside another pot shattering, "aggressive much?"
The world stops turning.
The child's eyes widen, their mouth drops agape, shrieking in ecstasy, and hopping into cacophony.
