Sorrys Are Always Forced.~chapter three

I was in the nurse bay. The nurse was bandaging me up and packing herbs in my wounds. Everything hurt. It hurt to move my eyes. It hurt to focus them, too. I couldn't move my fingers and I wouldn't even try any magic at all. Tears were in my eyes. No one would tell me what happened. Nobody would tell me who hurt me. When the nurse left, Saphora emerged, quite shamefully.

When they saw me, tears welled in their eyes.

"What happened?.." I asked.

They ran to the side of my bed and started crying.

"I'm so sorry..I'm so so sorry.."

I was so confused. I repeat.

"what happened?"

They looked at me in the eyes.

"I got too drunk last night..and I..I hit you..multiple times.."

"what?.." My voice trailed off in disbelief.

No. no. I don't believe it. I won't believe it. There's no way my brother would do that to me..

"I'm so sorry.."

I could barely speak. I stared at Saphora. Tears welled in my eyes. The feeling of betrayal set in and I snapped my arm away from them in anger.

"IF YOU'RE SO SORRY, THEN WHY DO YOU STILL FUCKING DRINK?!" The words fall out of my mouth in a rather sloppy manner. Saphora studied my bruises with his eyes. His eyes flashed.

"YOU DRINK SO MUCH! THE ONLY REASON I'M IN THIS SITUATION RIGHT NOW IS BECAUSE YOU ARE SO BUSY DRINKING WITH THAT PARTNER OF YOURS!" I was talking about Jinx, clearly. Tears streamed down my face. I remembered. I remembered the wine bottle smashing against my head, rewarding me with a gash on the side of my head bandaged up. I remembered the punch that caused my blackout. I remembered the slap that left me with a red mark on the side of my face. I remembered the punch that gave me a black eye. Everything.

Saphora's face was broken and sad.

"Leave me alone.." I say quietly. They got up and left the room. About a minute of being alone, the silence was broken by the ear-piercing shriek of the invasion alarm.
